Pellet Mill Laborer 231 Fisher Corner Rd, New London, NH 03257
Full-time Full-time Job Summary:
The Pellet Mill Laborer is a full-time position in the Pellet Mill at our facility in New London, NH. The hours and days of operation of the third shift are Monday through Friday 8:30 PM - 5:00 AM, however, the hours of operation may change based on production needs. The candidate will load wood chips into the infeed system with a bucket loader and will operate an automated bagging system requiring the use of a forklift to handle pallets of product and to load and unload trucks.
Training Schedule Requirement:
Training must be completed on first shift hours (6:00 AM - 2:00 PM, Monday-Friday) before moving to third shift.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Routinely cleans mill to help support first and second shifts Operates bucket loader, forklift and ultimately robot bagger system Maintain an extremely clean and safe working environment following all company policies Will assist the Plant Operator in the operation of the Pellet Mill Manage and maintain wood chip inventory pile and infeed area Move material as directed by the Plant Operator Inspect equipment daily, detect malfunctions, and report problems to the Plant Operator Perform indoor and outdoor maintenance in the direction of the Plant Operator Promote a safe working environment and follow all workplace and job safety procedures Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Works well independently and with others Good communication skills Organized with attention to detail Ability to work in a fast-paced and stressful environment Strong work ethic, good judgment, and decision-making skills Knowledge of the lumber industry Experience with pellet mill operations preferred but will train the right candidate Experience operating bucket loader but willing to train the right candidate Experience Operating a forklift but willing to train the right candidate
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred Equipment Operating Experience Driver's license and reliable transportation required
Physical Requirements:
Sitting for extended periods in the operation of equipment on varying surfaces Climbing up and down from cab heights with ease multiple times per hour Occasional lifting, pulling, or pushing up to 50 pounds Continuous walking or standing Climbing ladders and working in elevated positions following company safety procedures Bending, squatting, climbing stairs, and occasionally lifting items above the shoulders Ability to move levers, shift gears, depress pedals, and maneuver the steering wheel to operate the equipment
Work Environment:
Indoors and outdoors in varying temperatures and all-weather conditions Walking on slippery or uneven surfaces from time to time Hearing protection is required in certain areas of the facility Buildings and grounds are non-smoking except in designated smoking areas
