Job Description

Company DescriptionMcWane Ductile New Jersey is an industry leader in manufacturing water distribution and infrastructure products. As our country expanded, so did the need to supply growing cities with clean water and safely remove wastewater. Our location history starts in 1865 when Warren Foundry and Machine Company casted stoves, steam engines, mill gearing and other foundry related items. Currently we specialize in the casting of iron ductile pipes that range from 3" to 24" in diameter.

This role involves maintaining proper equipment conditions, handling materials safely, and ensuring quality production in a high-heat industrial environmentPay Rate Between $27.96 to $30.96
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Check the temperature of the iron every half hour.

Remove slag from iron, utilizing a skimmer.

After each pouring, add a can of blacking into chute and trough.

Remove build-up from quad ladle as needed.

Always keep the quad ladle full.

Ensure the trough is heated properly before commencing.

While mold is spinning, apply grease on spigot ring using a brush.

Remove the iron from spigot ring and spill tray.

Remove sliver from trough.

Remove all build-up of iron, slag, blacking from trough.

Apply blacking as needed to prevent iron from sticking.

Keep open communication with Iron Pourer, Trough-person and Machine Operator.

Inspect casting machine mold for defects.

Inspect and place each core on the casting machine.

Utilize control panels to operate machines.

Inspect and mark each pipe.

Perform all Pipe Maker duties for relief purposes.

All rates are in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA)QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Physical Demands:
Frequent walking, bending, standing, climbing, crouching, and squattingRegular use of hands to handle tools and equipment.

Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 lbs., frequently up to 25 lbs., and occasionally up to 50 lbs. (with or without mechanical assistance).Tolerance to work in high-heat, loud, dusty, and wet environments 
Work Environment:
While performing this role, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and extreme heat. There is frequent exposure to wet and/or humid conditions and explosives. Occasional exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals and vibrations may occur. The work environment may be loud and requires adherence to all safety guidelines.
