Production Operator -
Manufacturing & Extrusion Pay:
$20-$24/hour Job Overview We are seeking a dependable Production Operator to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will safely operate extrusion and compounding equipment, move materials throughout the facility, monitor product quality, and support daily production activities. This position is ideal for individuals with manufacturing experience, mechanical aptitude, and a strong commitment to safety and quality. Key Responsibilities Follow all safety policies, procedures, and workplace guidelines. Set up, operate, and monitor extrusion, compounding, and support equipment. Load raw materials into production equipment and monitor feed systems. Move materials and finished product using forklifts and pallet jacks. Support railcar loading and unloading operations in accordance with safety requirements. Complete production reports, quality checks, and other required documentation. Monitor production processes and identify equipment or product issues. Perform basic troubleshooting and communicate concerns to supervisors and quality personnel. Conduct product inspections to ensure compliance with quality standards. Assist with product changeovers, equipment cleanouts, and line startups. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area. Assist with inventory, warehouse operations, and material handling activities. Support continuous improvement initiatives and plant improvement projects. Perform basic machine maintenance and minor adjustments as needed. Work collaboratively with team members to achieve production goals. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications At least 2 years of manufacturing, production, machine operation, or industrial experience . Experience operating production equipment in a manufacturing environment. Forklift experience or ability to obtain certification. Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills. Ability to read and follow work instructions, procedures, and safety guidelines. Basic math skills and ability to accurately document production information. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. Strong work ethic, reliability, and attendance. Commitment to workplace safety and quality standards. Preferred Qualifications Experience with extrusion, compounding, plastics, polymers, or feed systems. Experience with Loss-in-Weight feeders, pneumatic conveying systems, or material handling equipment. Previous railcar loading/unloading experience. Experience in food, medical device, chemical, plastics, or other regulated manufacturing environments. Continuous improvement, Lean Manufacturing, or Six Sigma experience. Employees regularly work around extrusion equipment, conveyors, forklifts, pallet jacks, and other industrial machinery. The role requires standing, walking, lifting, and working safely in a fast-paced production setting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chesapeake, VA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $24.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
