Job Description

Since 1958, Bon Tool Company has been a trusted, family-owned manufacturer and distributor of masonry, concrete, and construction tools. Our products equip tradespeople and contractors across the country, and our success is built on the craftsmanship and dedication of the people who make our tools. We're looking for a hands-on, detail-oriented Machine Operator to join our manufacturing team in Gibsonia, PA and help us keep building on nearly seven decades of quality.
POSITION SUMMARY
: The Machine Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining a variety of metal fabrication equipment to produce high-quality components for our product line. This role works from CAD drawings and job jackets to mill, cut, form, and finish steel and other materials, while performing quality inspections and basic equipment maintenance. Success in this role requires strong hand skills, mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work safely and efficiently in a fast-paced production environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform milling, jig and fixture building, and machine and die setup for production runs Operate steel fabrication equipment, including machinery for bending, cutting, drilling, forming, grinding, punching, sawing, shearing, and spot welding Read and interpret CAD drawings and work instructions from job jackets to determine specifications, tolerances, and sequence of operations Assemble components accurately according to design and specification Measure and cut materials precisely, including proficient use of a tape measure and other measuring tools Assist with inventory control, including tracking materials and components used in production Perform pre-operation inspections to confirm machines are functioning properly before use Inspect machinery on an ongoing basis to ensure compliance with safety standards and applicable industry regulations Monitor machine operation and visually inspect product output to catch quality issues early Communicate clearly with teammates, leads, and supervisors about production status, scheduling, and process improvements to maximize efficiency Perform minor equipment repairs and troubleshooting; escalate more significant repair needs to maintenance technicians Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area consistent with company safety standards
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
Positive, team-oriented attitude — a must for this role Strong ability to work with your hands and operate tools and machinery safely Ability to accurately measure and cut materials, including confident use of a tape measure, calipers, rules, and combination squares Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn new skills, tools, and techniques Openness to constructive feedback and a commitment to continuously improving your craft Strong attention to detail to maintain the highest standards of quality and customer satisfaction Self-motivated and able to work productively under limited supervision Comfortable adapting to change and shifting priorities in a dynamic production environment Ability to manage multiple projects or job orders at once in a fast-paced setting Willingness to work under pressure to meet production deadlines Consistent attendance and a dependable, reliable, and punctual work history
PREFERRED BUT NOT REQUIRED
Welding experience with carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum using MIG and TIG processes is a plus Experience in sheet metal fabrication with stainless steel is a plus Prior experience in a manufacturing, machine shop, or steel fabrication environment Familiarity with reading engineering or CAD drawings This is a full-time, daylight-shift position, scheduled Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, at our Gibsonia, PA facility.
