No prior experience required Job Summary We are seeking an Extrusion Technician to operate and monitor an extrusion production line used to manufacture quality pipe. This position is responsible for keeping production running efficiently while maintaining product quality and minimizing scrap and downtime. No previous extrusion experience is required. Training will be provided to qualified candidates who are dependable, mechanically inclined, and willing to learn. Responsibilities Operate all phases of the extrusion line to produce quality pipe. Monitor extrusion lines to maintain consistent production while minimizing scrap and downtime. Perform required quality checks and samples throughout the production process. Monitor pipe for dimensional, visual, and other quality issues and make adjustments as needed. Perform machine start-ups, shutdowns, changeovers, and production adjustments. Clean screws, barrels, and tooling during shutdown and start-up procedures. Assemble and disassemble tooling while properly maintaining critical sealing surfaces. Maintain production equipment and tools in good working condition. Report equipment problems or maintenance needs to the Maintenance Department. Complete required production paperwork, process sheets, logs, and pipe tracking documentation. Operate and monitor downstream equipment and loading systems. Load and unload cure ovens as needed. Perform color changes and printer start-up/shutdown procedures. Follow established start-up and extrusion line check procedures. Verify IQMS buckets are properly dumped and maintain accurate production information. Follow all safety procedures and properly use machine guarding and required PPE. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area. Perform other duties as assigned by the Extrusion Supervisor. Training & Technical Skills Employees will be trained on the equipment and processes necessary to successfully perform the job, including: Machine shutdown, purge, and start-up procedures Screw and barrel cleaning Tooling assembly Oil cooler installation Machine start-up and silane checks Recipe changes using iNOEX Stringing up an extrusion line and making dimensional adjustments Calibrating iNOEX ultrasonic equipment and pipe rotation CMM operation Loading reels into take-ups and recoilers Extruder line inspections Color changes Printer operation iNOEX load-cell calibration Tower and sizing plate operation Silane drum handling Loading system operation Cure oven operation IQMS system Downstream equipment operation Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. No previous experience required - training provided. Manufacturing or plastics experience is a plus but not required. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality products. Ability to follow written procedures and safety instructions. Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn new equipment and processes. Ability to work effectively as part of a team. Dependable attendance and a strong work ethic. Physical Requirements & Work Environment Work is performed in a manufacturing environment around extrusion machinery and production equipment. Position requires standing and walking for extended periods. May require bending, reaching, lifting, carrying, and other physical activities associated with production and material handling. Employees must follow all safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE). Ability to safely work around operating machinery, ovens, tooling, and production equipment.
