Job Description:
The Printing Press Operator is responsible for managing all jobs scheduled for their printing press in a manner that follows customer specifications and art department requirements to a high level of detail. Responsible for coordinating all supply usage and planning jobs with the most efficient use of raw materials. All work is done with a focus on quality and safety.
Responsibilities:
Organize daily ink and material schedules by job type to maximize workflow efficiency. Manually configure printing presses using job folder specifications and install appropriate roll stock, dies, and cylinders. Run sample prints for customer spec verification and obtain Production Manager approval before full runs. Complete full print runs, provide files to the Lead Counter, and communicate specific job parameters. Maintain daily job-to-job press sheets and archive finished samples for future color-matching and repeat orders. Perform daily equipment maintenance and coordinate with technicians for advanced repairs or part ordering. Attend team meetings, generate pull tags as needed, and maintain a clean, organized workspace.
Education:
High School High School Diploma or GED Experience:
12 months Experience commercial printing a plus
Physical:
Moderate Lifting (up to 50 lbs) Standing / Walking Bending / Stooping / Kneeling Pushing / Pulling Hot Environments PPE Required (Noise / Chemical / Dust)
Skills:
Experience commercial printing a plus Competency in use of computer systems; aptitude for being trained on in-house computer systems Basic math skills essential Ability to accurately measure and read a ruler Ability to work independently and in a team Strong verbal and written communication skills High level of attention to detail Work at a fast pace and be able to multitask working on multiple jobs at once Problem solving and troubleshooting
