Batch Operator Job Description The batch operator plays a key role in the mixing department by blending powders according to detailed batch instructions and precise measurements. This position involves operating mixing and production equipment, monitoring product quality, and handling materials that require regular lifting, pushing, and pulling of up to 50 pounds. Responsibilities Blend powders in the mixing department in accordance with specific batch instructions and formulas. Measure and add ingredients accurately to each batch to ensure product consistency and quality. Operate mixing, blending, and related production machinery safely and efficiently. Monitor machines during operation and perform basic troubleshooting to resolve minor issues. Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and quality assurance procedures at all times. Package finished product according to production and quality standards. Handle materials and finished goods, including lifting, pushing, and pulling items weighing up to 50 pounds. Assist with inventory-related tasks, such as moving, staging, and tracking materials as needed. Use forklifts and other material-handling equipment when required and in accordance with safety guidelines. Maintain a clean and organized work area to support a safe and efficient production environment. Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhere to all safety policies and procedures. Work 2nd shift hours after completing required training on 1st shift. Essential Skills Experience operating production or manufacturing machinery. Hands-on mixing experience in a production or industrial environment. Knowledge and practical experience with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). Experience as a blender operator and/or batch operator. Ability to lift, push, and pull 50 pounds or more on a regular basis. Basic troubleshooting skills for production and mixing equipment. Understanding of quality assurance practices in a manufacturing setting. Ability to follow detailed written instructions and measurements accurately. Additional Skills & Qualifications Forklift experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment. Experience with inventory handling or inventory control processes. Previous work in production, packaging, or compounding operations. Comfort working with bleach-based cleaning agents and related products. Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality. Reliability and willingness to work a fixed 2nd shift schedule after training. Why Work Here? Work Environment The work takes place in a production facility that manufactures a bleach-based outdoor cleaning agent, so there is a noticeable but manageable odor in the area. The environment is non-climate-controlled, and employees should be comfortable working in varying temperatures. The facility is described as extremely clean, reflecting a strong focus on housekeeping and safety. Required PPE includes steel-toe footwear, eye protection, and hearing protection. The standard schedule is 2nd shift, Monday through Thursday, from 4:00 p.m. to 2:30 a.m., with initial training conducted on 1st shift from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Manchester, TN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
