DISCHARGE OPERATOR

Sevier Solid Waste, Inc. Position Description Position Summary The primary responsibility of the discharge operator is to unload material from the digesters. This includes opening doors, monitoring material on the conveyor and removing hairballs from both the digester and the conveyor. The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

PRIMARY DUTIES

Open and close digester doors as trained to unload material from digesters Monitor material on the conveyor belt to ensure belt is not overloaded Ensure all hairballs are emptied from the digesters before end of shift Ensure residuals, hairballs or compost does not pile up around the head or tail pulley Clean conveyor skirts Pull hairballs off the conveyor belt with the knuckleboom Operate a manlift to remove hairballs from the conveyors Clean entire discharge area Ensure root blowers are working properly. Notify maintenance of any discrepancies Inspect, service and operate the gutter cleaner, ensure fallen residuals and compost are removed Adhere to all safety guidelines At end of shift, secure all equipment, machinery and facility doors Additional job duties as requested by management Education, Skills & Abilities Required Must be 18 years of age Must be able to pass a drug test Ability to operate a manlift Must be able to perform the essential job functions Essential Job Functions Required to Perform the Job Able to correctly lift a minimum of 50 pounds Able to climb into and exit manlift Able to maintain stamina in heat, humidity, cold Able to bend, twist, stoop, stand for continuous periods Able to analyze and remember information Able to have manual dexterity necessary to complete all job duties Able to maintain dependable work Able to remain calm in highly stressful, hectic environment Able to be flexible and handle changes in priorities Able to prioritize tasks and complete assignments on time Able to report to work on time without being under the influence or smelling of alcohol or drugs Able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug test Able to have good motor skills Able to make sound decisions
