GENERAL DESCRIPTION AND NATURE OF WORK

The primary responsibility of the truck driver is to operate a roll off truck to move materials from one location to another.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB

Responsibilities:

Operate a roll off truck to move material from one location to another Monitor loads to ensure gross weight of truck is in compliance with SSWI operating guidelines Weigh truck across scales to measure gross weight Move, load and unload 30 yd containers as needed Work in conjunction with the discharge, air floor and landfill employees to limit down time of composting system Inspect truck each day prior to operating Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and maintenance as required on truck Ability to work flexible shifts - stay late as needed or come in early as operation requires Adhere to plant policies and guidelines Work safely and adhere to safety guidelines Other duties as assigned by Manager to ensure success of compost and recycling operations

EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

Current Commercial Drivers License Highly motivated, independent worker able to work with little supervision Mechanically inclined and basics of operating machinery Ability to pass pre-employment and random drug and alcohol screening as required by DOT Ability to write, complete forms and communicate effectively

ADA REQUIREMENTS

This is in general, medium duty work requiring the exertion of up to 25 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Work requires standing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, walking, lifting, fingering, grasping, and repetitive motions. Required to be exposed to physical occupational risks (such as cuts, burns, exposure to toxic chemicals, etc.) part of the workday. Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels. Visual acuity is required for visual inspection involving small items, operation of motor vehicles or equipment, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities. The employee routinely works indoors and outdoors the employee maybe exposed to extreme conditions of weather, machinery with moving parts, excessive noise, fumes, and chemicals or toxic substances. Required to be exposed to physical environment which involves dirt, compost, odors, noise, weather extremes or similar elements part of the workday. Normal setting for this job may include one or more of the following: cardboard building, compost plant, shop, and landfill/outdoor.
