Job Description

Position Summary The Machine Operator is responsible for safely operating production machinery, monitoring equipment performance, inspecting parts, and supporting efficient manufacturing operations. This role ensures products are produced to specification while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and productivity. Key Responsibilities Machine Operation Operate assigned machines and equipment according to standard operating procedures. Start, stop, and monitor machine performance throughout the shift. Perform basic machine adjustments to maintain proper operation. Troubleshoot minor mechanical issues and notify maintenance when needed. Quality & Inspection Inspect parts using measurement tools such as calipers, gauges, and micrometers. Verify product quality against specifications and document results. Identify defects or irregularities and remove non‑conforming parts from production. Maintain accurate production and inspection records. Material Handling & Workflow Load raw materials into machines and remove finished parts. Move materials and products using pallet jacks, carts, or forklifts (if certified). Maintain proper inventory of materials at the workstation. Keep the work area clean, organized, and compliant with 5S standards. Safety & Compliance Follow all safety procedures, including lockout/tagout and PPE requirements. Report unsafe conditions, equipment issues, or incidents immediately. Participate in safety training and continuous improvement initiatives. Documentation & Communication Complete production logs, downtime reports, and quality checklists. Communicate effectively with supervisors, maintenance, and other operators. Support process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce waste. Qualifications Required High school diploma or GED. Experience in manufacturing or machine operation. Ability to read work instructions, safety guidelines, and basic blueprints. Basic math and measurement skills. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for long periods. Preferred Experience with CNC or automated machinery. Familiarity with inspection tools and quality processes. Forklift certification. Mechanical aptitude or maintenance experience. Key Competencies Attention to detail for accurate inspection and machine monitoring. Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn equipment operation. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Reliability and consistent attendance. Commitment to safety and quality standards. Working Conditions Manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery, noise, and industrial materials. Requires use of PPE such as safety glasses, gloves, and steel‑toe boots. May require overtime or shift work depending on production needs. Experience Required Ability to read work instructions, safety guidelines, and basic blueprints. Experience in manufacturing or machine operation. Preferred Experience with CNC or automated machinery. Education Preferred High School or better
