Spherion Staffing and Recruiting is hiring dedicated Sander Helpers to join an active manufacturing environment in Temple, Texas. This position offers full-time hours, predictable shifts, and a supportive team structure where safety and quality come first. You will play an essential role in keeping production running smoothly, mastering specialized machinery, and taking pride in building high-quality products every single day. Working the night shift offers a predictable full-time schedule, clear daily tasks, and a focused work environment where you can build valuable skills. We offer three distinct night shift options that allow you to balance work and personal time effectively:

Night Main Crew:

Monday through Thursday, 9:00 PM

  • 7:00 AM Night Shift 1: Monday, Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday, 9:00 PM
  • 7:00 AM Night Shift 2: Wednesday through Saturday, 9:00 PM

Responsibilities:

As a Sander Helper, you will work closely with your teammates to prepare, inspect, and complete laminate materials. Your main daily responsibilities will include:

Material Handling:

Move pressed materials from the holding area and use table lifts to place items into position.

Machine Operation:

Feed laminate sheets into the sanding machine, activate edge routing, perform end cuts, and adjust equipment controls.

Quality Control:

Visually inspect completed laminate sheets for surface or pattern defects, removing any damaged items to ensure top quality.

Finishing Steps:

Transfer finished sheets to layoff tables, organize materials for delivery to the next department, and set up new work tables to keep operations moving smoothly.

Record Keeping & Safety:

Record material waste, update production schedules, complete preventative maintenance checks, and follow lock-out/tag-out safety guidelines.

Team Leadership:

Support fellow team members, encourage proper safety gear usage, and assist with on-the-job training for new workers.

9:00 PM

AM Skills:

Experience operating a lift truck or industrial equipment. Familiarity with precise measuring instruments such as micrometers. Prior experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment. Basic computer literacy or a willingness to learn production monitoring software.

Education:
High School Experience:

1-4 years

Qualifications:

Must be able to work overnight schedule. Minimum of one year of consistent work history. Basic mathematical skills, including addition and subtraction. Ability to read a standard tape measure accurately. Strong hand-eye coordination and visual acuity to identify subtle colors and material defects.
