Barkhamsted, CT Job Details 13 days ago Qualifications CNC tooling High school diploma or GED Full Job Description We are currently seeking a skilled CNC Vertical Turning Lathe (VTL) Operator on behalf of our respected manufacturing client in Barkhamsted, CT. The primary responsibility of this role is to efficiently operate CNC Vertical Turning Lathes while upholding the highest standards of quality, safety, and productivity. The ideal candidate for this position will possess a keen attention to detail, a mechanical aptitude, and prior experience operating CNC turning equipment within a precision manufacturing setting. Primary Duties Operate CNC Vertical Turning Lathes (VTLs) in a safe and efficient manner. Ensure quality control is maintained throughout the machining process. Monitor machining operations to guarantee parts meet customer specifications. Utilize precision measuring instruments to inspect and measure in-process and finished parts. Conduct first-piece, in-process, and final inspections. Operate multiple CNC machines simultaneously as assigned. Promptly report equipment malfunctions or production concerns to the direct supervisor. Adhere to all standard operating procedures, quality standards, and safety regulations. Effectively communicate with team members across all shifts. Maintain accurate production records and documentation as needed. Perform basic machine maintenance tasks, such as checking oil levels, coolant, and routine cleaning. Keep the work environment clean, organized, and safe. Identify and report defective materials or questionable conditions to the VP of Operations promptly. Complete additional tasks as assigned by management. Qualifications Minimum of 2 years of experience as a CNC Operator, with a preference for experience in operating CNC Vertical Turning Lathes (VTLs). Equivalent skills and abilities will be considered. High School Diploma or equivalent required. Prior experience in manufacturing or aerospace machining is advantageous. Capability to operate CNC turning equipment independently while upholding quality standards. Key Skills Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, work orders, travelers, and technical documentation. Experience using precision measuring instruments, including calipers and other inspection tools.
Familiarity with:
CNC tool holders Cutting tools Fixtures Machine accessories Knowledge of basic machine maintenance procedures. Strong mathematical skills, including geometry and algebra. Excellent attention to detail and dedication to quality. Effective problem-solving and troubleshooting capabilities. Ability to multitask in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. Flexible, creative, and reliable work ethic. Stand and walk for extended periods during the shift. Perform repetitive hand and arm movements. Manual dexterity needed to operate CNC machinery and computer systems safely. Quick response to alarms, machine sounds, and potential safety hazards. Adaptability to changing production priorities and work environments. Effective communication in English, including listening, speaking, reading, and following instructions.
