Job Description
Job Summary:
The Mold Technician / Plant Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing mold changes, assisting with mold setup and process adjustments, and performing preventive maintenance and repairs on production equipment and facility systems. This position works under the supervision of management and in coordination with Production and Quality Control to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality manufacturing operations.Duties/Responsibilities:
- Perform mold changes and mold adjustments as directed by the Plant Manager or designated supervisor.
- Set up molds and assist with establishing and maintaining proper machine processes for production.
- Start up and shut down production equipment in accordance with established procedures.
- Identify maintenance issues and required repairs and promptly notify management and the Tool Room.
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and repairs on plant equipment, including injection molding machines, extruders, grinders, forklifts, air compressors, and related machinery.
- Perform general plant maintenance tasks, including lighting repairs, filter replacements, and fan maintenance.
- Maintain accurate logs and documentation for repair work, maintenance activities, and equipment inspections.
- Notify management when replacement parts or supplies are required for maintenance or repairs.
- Work collaboratively with Production and Quality Control teams to troubleshoot equipment or process issues.
- Assist in developing or updating process setups when new molds are introduced.
- Follow Quality Control procedures and promptly report product quality issues to management or Quality Control personnel.
- Implement proper Lockout/Tagout procedures when performing equipment maintenance.
- Operate forklifts, cranes, and other material-handling equipment in accordance with company policies and safety procedures.
- Complete safety checklists and inspections prior to operating cranes or other lifting equipment.
- Maintain tools and equipment in proper working condition and return tools to designated storage areas after use.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including keeping aisles clear and promptly addressing spills or debris.
- Ensure machine safety guards are properly installed and functioning before equipment operation.
- Use required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, gloves, masks, and other protective gear as required.
- Request assistance or use mechanical aids when lifting or moving heavy materials.
- Comply with all company safety policies and applicable OSHA safety standards.
- This position may be designated as safety-sensitive under company policy due to the operation and maintenance of industrial machinery and equipment.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management to support plant operations.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Working knowledge of hydraulic systems and industrial electrical systems including 230V, 460V, and three-phase power.
- Experience with injection molding and extrusion equipment, including mold installation and process setup.
- Basic computer skills including the ability to use spreadsheets and maintenance logs.
- Forklift certification or the ability to obtain certification within a reasonable period after hire. Preferred Experience
- Three or more years of experience working with injection molding and extrusion machinery.
- Experience with mold installation, process troubleshooting, and industrial equipment maintenance.
- Skilled with Engel EC88, CC90, and CC100 controllers.
- Diagnose Keba card and electrical issues. Training and Certification Requirements Employees in this position must successfully complete all company-required safety and operational training, which may include:
- Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) training in accordance with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration Lockout/Tagout standard.
- Forklift or powered industrial truck certification, if operating such equipment.
- Overhead crane or lifting equipment safety training, if required for job duties.
- Machine safety and hazard awareness training related to the operation and maintenance of plant equipment. Additional training may be required periodically to maintain compliance with company safety policies and applicable workplace safety regulations. Physical Requirements (with or without reasonable accommodation):
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods within a manufacturing facility.
- Ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to bend, crouch, kneel, reach, and turn while performing equipment maintenance or mold changes.
- Ability to visually inspect equipment, materials, and finished products for quality and safety concerns.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment that may include exposure to noise, dust, oils, and other industrial conditions.
Pay:
$24.44- $29.
