Job Description

Overview:
A Foundry Core Maker is responsible for creating cores used in the casting process within a foundry. Cores are essential components that form internal cavities and shapes in cast metal products.
Key Responsibilities:
Set up and operate core-making equipment, such as core shooters, mixers, and core ovens. Prepare core sand mixtures by blending sand with various binders and additives, ensuring the proper consistency for molding. Create cores by molding sand mixtures into the desired shapes using core boxes or other molding equipment. Assemble cores accurately, paying attention to details to meet design specifications.
Quality Control:
Conduct quality checks on finished cores to verify dimensions, surface finish, and overall integrity. Address any defects or deviations and make adjustments to the core-making process to meet quality standards.
Collaboration:
Coordinate with other foundry personnel, including pattern makers, molders, and metallurgists, to achieve optimal casting results. Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to address any issues and contribute to process improvement.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with various core-making equipment and processes. Strong attention to detail and precision in core assembly and molding. Knowledge of safety procedures in a foundry setting. Effective communication and teamwork skills.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and move heavy equipment and materials. Tolerance for working in a hot/cold and noisy environment. Stamina and physical endurance for prolonged periods of standing and manual labor.
