High school graduates with good attendance record and basic math skills. Employees are trained in all aspects of the job. Initially trained as a Melter learning how to weigh up scrap or ingot to be melted. Those materials are transported by a fork truck and then by hand into an induction melting furnace. After a month, new hires will be trained as Operators controlling casting extraction equipment which includes a saw and a bar straightening machine. After being trained on both jobs, the jobs are rotated between melting and operating. The operator is responsible for checking cast dimensions using micrometers. Employees also unload trucks and assist maintenance staff in repairing the equipment as needed. There is a physical exam that includes a 100 pound lift test and drug screen.
