Part-Time / Per-Diem Stump Grinder Operator —
Make Your Own Schedule Pay:
$20.00-$25.00 per hour, depending on experience Job Description Mike's Professional Tree Service is looking for a Stump Grinder Operator to join our team on a part-time, per-diem basis . This is a great opportunity for someone looking for a second job, supplemental income, seasonal work, or a flexible way to earn extra money .
Make your own schedule:
You provide your availability in advance, and we schedule stump-grinding jobs around the days and hours you are available. We are looking for someone who can provide regular availability each week, with the specific days and hours arranged around your schedule. Weekend availability is welcome , making this an especially good opportunity for someone who works a regular Monday-Friday job. The primary responsibility of this position is stump grinding at residential properties . You will independently operate a commercial, self-propelled stump grinder and be responsible for completing each job from start to finish, including grinding, raking, cleanup, customer interaction, and communicating job details to the office. Previous stump grinding experience is strongly preferred. We are looking for someone who has operated a stump grinder and understands basic stump-grinding methods and safe equipment operation. However, we are willing to train the right candidate who has related equipment-operation, landscaping, construction, tree-service, or other relevant outdoor work experience. This position is ideal for someone who is professional, dependable, responsible, comfortable working independently, and takes pride in doing quality work. Responsibilities
  • Safely and efficiently operate a commercial, self-propelled stump grinder
  • Pick up and return the stump grinder at the company yard each day worked
  • Complete stump-grinding jobs from start to finish, including grinding, raking, and final cleanup
  • Work independently and manage job-site responsibilities without direct supervision
  • Interact professionally with residential customers and represent Mike's Professional Tree Service positively
  • Take before-and-after photos and communicate job details or issues to the office
  • Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and professional job site
  • Follow company safety procedures and properly care for company equipment Additional Work Opportunities Depending on your availability and our workload, there may also be opportunities for additional hours performing other tree-service, equipment, and landscape-supply work, including:
  • Driving company chip trucks
  • Assisting the tree crew as a groundsman
  • Operating a wood chipper
  • Firewood processing and related equipment
  • Operating a front-end loader and other equipment
  • Seasonal delivery driving for our affiliated landscape supply company
  • Other tree-service and equipment-related work as needed Don't have experience with every piece of equipment listed above? That's okay. Additional training will be provided to the right candidate. Requirements
  • Previous stump grinding experience strongly preferred
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Must meet company auto insurance requirements and be insurable under our commercial auto insurance policy
  • DOT medical card required upon hire
  • Professional, dependable, and responsible
  • Able to work independently and take responsibility for completing jobs safely and professionally
  • Comfortable interacting directly with residential customers
  • Comfortable driving company trucks and towing equipment; training provided as needed
  • Ability to perform physical outdoor work in typical New England conditions
  • Comfortable working outdoors in varying temperatures and weather
  • Ability to lift and carry 50+ lbs.
  • Able to provide regular availability each week and communicate availability in advance

  • Previous stump grinding experience
  • Experience operating commercial or self-propelled stump grinders
  • Experience operating skid steers, loaders, or other heavy equipment
  • Tree-service, landscaping, construction, excavation, or property-maintenance experience
  • Experience driving dump trucks, chip trucks, or towing trailers
  • Experience operating wood chippers or firewood processing equipment What We Offer

Pay:

Do you have a valid driver's license and a clean driving record? What days and times are you generally available to work? Please include any regular weekend availability.
