Job Summary:
Bouldin & Lawson, L.L.C. is looking to hire a detail-oriented machinist. Our shop runs one shift, 6:00 AM - 4:30 PM on a 4 - 10-hour days schedule, with opportunities for overtime as needed. Our machinists use on panel programming, as well as CAM software when needed to make parts to print specifications. In addition, manual layout work as well as the use of manual machine tools is required. We do not employ machine operators, our machinists perform all critical machining duties, including programming, setup, tooling inspections, tramming and accuracy checks, as well as general machine maintenance. Program & operate CNC lathes, CNC milling machines, and manual machine tools to produce parts to print specifications. Manual layout skills, run drill presses, bandsaws, cut off saws and sanders. Setup & indicate vises, change and true lathe chucks, check machine runout etc. Review manufactured parts against written and electronic blueprints and specifications for accuracy, and modify programs or machine parameters in response to problems or print changes. Monitor & control machine operations and all setup, including cutting calculations, machine feed-rate, proper tool selection, sequencing of operations, material positioning, and workholding. Meet efficiency and quality standards based on plant objectives.
Key Responsibilities :
Read and interpret part prints, machine parts to specification using CNC and manual machine tools Write programs via the machine panel, and alter programs when changes occur Perform all setup duties and tooling inspections before machining Perform general maintenance on the machine(s) Perform machine calibration, tramming, runout adjustment, and accuracy checks Monitor and check parts against prints and standards to ensure quality and accuracy Operate machines safely and efficiently while prioritizing tool life, part quality and accuracy, and machine longevity When no CNC work is needed for current job, or if the CNC machines are ahead, assist with other machine shop areas, including bandsaw, manual layout & drill line, sheet metal, etc.
Qualifications:
Required:
High School Diploma or GED Ability to lift 60-100lbs frequently Ability to stand on concrete for 10+ hours per day Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, both physical and 3D CAD models Basic computer knowledge, all part prints and 3D models will be viewed through CAD viewer software Ability to read and interpret measuring tools, such as a tape measure, calipers, micrometers, etc. Experience with CNC and manual machine tools and manual layout work Ability to process plan - plan out necessary machining operations in the proper order to make parts, and the proper tooling to accomplish a quality finish with good accuracy Hand tools and measurement tools not provided, must be furnished by the employee. Specialty tools or measurement equipment, and all machine tooling is provided by the employer. Strong time management skills and exceptional attention to detail Must pass pre-employment drug screen Must be willing to assist with other machine shop processes when the CNC machines are ahead or through current job
Preferred:
Experience with
HAAS CNC
machine tools
  • Prior experience programming and operating a CNC lathe and mill
  • Experience with manual mills and lathes, drill presses, surface grinders, hydraulic presses, etc A machinist certificate or some similar formal education Ability to program directly from the machine control panel, experience with
HAAS VPS
preferred Prior forklift certification
