Job Description

Job Description This person will operate and monitor the Steam Plant from the control room to ensure reliable steam production for district energy network. They will oversee natural gas-fired boilers, monitor steam pressures, temperatures, flows, and equipment performance through plant control systems, respond to alarms and abnormal conditions, and coordinate with field operators and maintenance personnel. They'll assist with plant startups, shutdowns, equipment troubleshooting, and operating adjustments to maintain safe and efficient steam generation while ensuring uninterrupted service to downtown Indianapolis customers. Skills and Requirements Experience operating boilers, steam generation equipment, or industrial utility systemsControl room, plant operations, power generation, refinery, chemical plant, district energy, or large industrial facility experienceExperience monitoring plant operations through DCS, PLC, SCADA, or other control systemsUnderstanding of steam systems, pumps, valves, compressors, and associated equipmentAbility to respond to alarms, troubleshoot operational issues, and make adjustments to maintain safe operationsStrong safety mindset and experience following operating proceduresStationary Engineer License or Boiler Operator CertificationCombined Cycle, Power Plant, or Thermal Energy experienceExperience with natural gas-fired boilersKnowledge of high-pressure steam systemsExperience performing startup, shutdown, and load-balancing activitiesUnion utility or district energy experience We are a company committed to creating diverse and inclusive environments where people can bring their full, authentic selves to work every day.
