JWSD provides water and sanitary sewer services to more than 4,000 customers located within Jefferson Township, Ohio and performs water and sanitary sewer utility services for new developments, system improvements, and utility extensions within the District service area. The Water Plant Operator I is responsible for monitoring, operating, and controlling water treatment/processing equipment within the water treatment plant. An Operator I administers, operates, and monitors the mechanical and analytical systems pertinent to water treatment and control at the water treatment plant. Also monitors and performs water sampling at system entry to the water plant and within the distribution system and performs laboratory testing of water samples for compliance, adjusts water treatment chemical levels to meet treatment goals and regulatory requirements, and ensures compliance with state and federal regulatory requirements. This position is a full-time, non-exempt (hourly) position that has working hours Monday-Friday between 7:30am-4:00pm. Occasional weekend hours are necessary and participation in an emergency on-call rotation is required.
Qualifications:
The qualified candidate must have a high school diploma or GED and one (1) year of experience in a Class I water treatment plant, possess an Ohio EPA Class I Water Supply Professional Operator certification, and have general knowledge of the ion-exchange water treatment processes. Candidate must also possess an Ohio EPA Laboratory "Certified" certification or the ability to obtain one within 12 months of employment. JWSD is a drug-free workplace and qualified candidates are required to pass a pre-employment drug screening, law enforcement background check, and Bureau of Motor Vehicle check.
