Job Description
JDM Materials Position Summary JDM Materials is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Concrete Plant Operator (Batchman) to join our team. The Concrete Plant Operator is responsible for safely producing high-quality ready-mix concrete by operating a computerized batching system and ensuring all products meet company, customer, and industry specifications. This position plays a critical role in plant operations and requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Essential Responsibilities Safely operate a computerized concrete batching system. Produce ready-mix concrete in accordance with approved mix designs and customer specifications. Verify each load for correct yardage, mix design, admixtures, and all quality control requirements. Monitor and accurately dispense cement, aggregates, water, and chemical admixtures. Receive, inspect, and monitor incoming raw materials. Maintain inventory levels of cement, fly ash, aggregates, admixtures, and other plant materials. Complete daily production reports, inventory records, and required documentation. Coordinate with dispatch, quality control personnel, drivers, and plant management to ensure efficient operations. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, including overseeing the cleaning of the central mix plant. Identify operational issues and communicate concerns promptly to management. Perform routine inspections and report equipment maintenance needs. Follow all company safety policies, environmental regulations, and quality control procedures. Work collaboratively with fellow employees to ensure exceptional customer service. Qualifications Previous experience operating a ready-mix concrete plant or batching system is preferred. Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills. Working knowledge of computerized batching software. Excellent organizational and communication skills. Ability to work independently while maintaining a strong team-oriented attitude. Commitment to producing quality products and maintaining a safe workplace. Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, overtime, and occasional Saturdays as business demands require. Physical Requirements Ability to climb stairs and ladders and work at elevated heights. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. Ability to stand, walk, bend, and climb throughout the workday.
