Operators start at $20.50 per hour Primary Responsibilities Manufacture, handle, store, load, unload, and transfer fertilizer and chemical products Operate pumps, valves, hoses, mixers, conveyors, truck-loading systems, forklifts, skid-steers, loaders, and similar equipment Follow production instructions, batch sheets, operating procedures, and safety requirements Monitor tank levels, temperatures, flow rates, product movement, and equipment conditions Complete production records, inspection forms, and other required documentation Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and minor equipment repairs Identify and report leaks, equipment problems, unsafe conditions, and product-quality concerns Maintain clean, organized, and safe production, storage, and loading areas Assist in other plant areas as production and seasonal needs change Plant Operators are trained in the processes and equipment used in their assigned area. As operators demonstrate the required knowledge, judgment, and ability, they may become qualified to independently operate specific equipment or production areas. Plant Operators can earn higher wages by advancing through TRT's tiered Operator Level system. Progression is based on demonstrated proficiency, successful qualification in plant processes and equipment, and the ability to take on greater responsibility. Qualifications Must be at least 18 years old Dependable, punctual, and able to work safely as part of a team Able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds Able to stand, walk, climb, bend, and work on your feet for extended periods Able to understand and follow verbal and written instructions Willing to work around industrial equipment, fertilizer products, and agricultural chemicals Available to work changing hours, overtime, weekends, or extended shifts during busy seasons Willing to learn and follow safety, environmental, and operating procedures Previous experience in agriculture, fertilizer, chemical handling, industrial production, warehousing, equipment operation, truck loading, or mechanical maintenance is helpful but not required. Training will be provided for candidates who demonstrate good judgment, a strong work ethic, mechanical interest, and a willingness to learn. This position includes work indoors and outdoors in changing weather conditions. Employees may work around noise, dust, moving equipment, fertilizer products, agricultural chemicals, and active truck-loading areas. Required personal protective equipment must be worn, and all safety procedures must be followed.
