opportunity Job Summary The Brake Operator is responsible for setting up and operating brake press machinery to produce quality parts according to specifications. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, blueprint reading skills, and the ability to troubleshoot equipment and production issues while maintaining quality and productivity standards. Key Responsibilities Set up and operate brake press machinery. Verify workpiece dimensions and inspect parts for quality. Install, align, and adjust dies, clamps, and machine settings. Read and interpret blueprints, travelers, and work instructions. Use measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers. Troubleshoot machine and production issues. Update travelers and system transactions accurately. Report defective materials, equipment issues, or unusual conditions. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area. Operational Support Follow assigned production priorities and work instructions. Ensure correct job, revision, and traveler are used. Support production flow by assisting in other work centers as needed, including deburr, assembly support, material handling, paint prep, and general shop operations. Assist with cross-training and mentoring Level I Brake Operators. Qualifications & Skills Strong mechanical aptitude and basic math skills. Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings. Experience using measuring equipment (calipers, micrometers, etc.). Ability to troubleshoot and solve production-related issues. Commitment to safety, quality, and standard work practices. Physical Requirements Lift up to 35-50 lbs. as needed. Push up to 50 lbs. as needed. Load and unload materials up to 25 lbs. Ability to stand for extended periods and perform occasional bending, twisting, kneeling, and squatting.
