Punch Press Set Up and Operator

Supervisor of Short Run and Press Room Position Summary:

The Punch Press Set Up and Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining punch press machines to produce quality metal components according to production specifications. This position plays a key role in ensuring the accurate and timely completion of work orders by performing setups, conducting in-process inspections, and maintaining a safe and clean work area.

Responsibilities:

• Set up punch press machines for production runs, including die installation, material alignment, and machine adjustments.
• Operate punch presses to cut, form, and shape metal parts as specified by work orders, blueprints, and job travelers.
• Perform first-piece inspections and verify part conformance using measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
• Monitor machine operations and part quality throughout production to ensure consistency and accuracy.
• Troubleshoot minor machine issues and make necessary adjustments; report major problems to maintenance or supervision.
• Change tooling, sharpen dies, and conduct routine preventive maintenance as needed.
• Maintain proper documentation of production counts, scrap, and inspection results.
• Follow established safety procedures and wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Keep the work area organized, clean, and free of hazards in alignment with 5S practices.
• Communicate material shortages, tooling concerns, or equipment issues to the supervisor in a timely manner.

Physical Requirements:

• Frequent standing, bending, lifting, and reaching throughout the shift.
• Ability to lift and move up to 40 lbs independently.
• Manual dexterity and visual acuity required to safely operate machinery and perform inspections.

Work Environment:

Manufacturing floor with exposure to industrial equipment, noise, and varying temperatures.

Physical Demands:

Active role requiring frequent standing, walking, bending, and occasional lifting of materials or equipment (up to 50 pounds).

Schedule:

Full-time, Monday to Friday, with flexibility for extended hours or weekends as needed to support production demands.

Travel:

Minimal travel may be required, primarily for training or inter-facility coordination.

Pay:
