Job Description

Job Title:
Press Feeder Job Description Responsible for the preparation and operation of an automatic feeder and maintaining the trailing coater. Additionally, you will assist the press operator in tandem press operations as assigned. Responsibilities Prepare the press feed section according to the sheet size involved. Assist the press operator in setting up the press, installing press plates, setting dampeners and rollers, and filling ink fountains with the correct pH and conductivity. Check each load of plates for correct size, job number, plate position, and general condition before pushing them into the feeder. Line up loads for proper continuous feeding and adjust the double sheet ejector. Stay alert during runs to catch damaged sheets and prevent jams or damage to blankets, press plates, and press cylinders. Insert sheet holding forks near the end of each load for continuous feeding operation. Assist the press operator in mixing inks, washing the press plate and blanket, and other assigned duties. Take responsibility for complete press operation during the temporary absence of the press operator, under their supervision. Perform miscellaneous oiling of the press and feeder as directed and wash up the press during color changes and at the end of the day/shift/week. Maintain an accurate day log card and order work copies with operations performed, sheet count, and spoilage. Occasionally hand pile sheets on the feeder skid as assigned. Set up the trailing coater and maintain film weight, viscosity, and coverage during runs. Change composition coating rollers when necessary and ensure proper wash-up of the coating machine between material changes and at the end of the day/shift/week. Essential Skills Experience in printing press operations and troubleshooting. Ability to assist the operator with setups and other tasks associated with the press. Proficiency in cleaning the press daily and logging information accurately. Mechanical aptitude and experience in lithography and machine operation. Ability to pass the Farnsworth Munsell 100 Hue Test. Proficiency in using and reading basic measuring equipment. Understanding of coating materials. High school diploma, GED equivalency, or vocational certificate required. Additional Skills & Qualifications Must be able to read and comprehend work order and layout specifications. Ability to work with ports or material weighing up to approximately 60 lbs. Position requires standing most of the time. Why Work Here? The work shifts include:
1st shift from 6am to 4pm, Monday to Friday; 2nd shift from 3pm to 11pm, with training on 1st shift for 3-8 weeks and a 7% premium when moved to 2nd shift; and 3rd shift from 11pm to 7am, with training on 1st shift for 3-8 weeks and a 15% premium when moved to 3rd shift. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Rockford, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $60216.00 - $69248.40/yr.
