Job Description

Position Overview The Screen Printer at Custom Baked Tees is responsible for producing high-quality prints using both automatic and manual screen-printing presses. This role requires strong technical printing skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced shop that handles everything from daily client orders to large contract runs. The ideal candidate is reliable, quality-driven, and takes pride in producing work that represents the CBT standard — bright, consistent, accurate prints with minimal errors and maximum efficiency. Key Responsibilities Screen Printing Production Operate automatic presses (such as the Anatol Volt) and manual presses as needed.
Set up jobs including:
Burning screens & proper mesh selection Registering multi-color jobs (1-14 colors) Mixing ink using the Wilflex RIO system or matching Pantones Loading/unloading garments Checking print placement for accuracy Produce high-quality prints consistently and efficiently. Quality Control Inspect prints for pinholes, fibrillation, misregistration, ghosting, undercure, and overcure. Ensure color accuracy, opacity, and consistent print location. Perform test prints and approve setups before production. Maintain high standards for smooth, clean, vibrant prints. Equipment Maintenance Perform daily and weekly maintenance on automatic & manual presses, flash units, and conveyor dryers. Ensure dryers are running at proper temperature, dwell time, and airflow. Maintain a clean, organized print station. Report mechanical issues immediately. Screen Room Duties Coat, expose, washout, and reclaim screens correctly. Keep detailed notes for repeated jobs (exposure times, mesh count, ink combinations). Ensure screens are clean, durable, and production-ready. Workflow & Team Collaboration Work closely with press helpers, catchers, and the production manager. Follow job tickets accurately — sizes, placements, ink colors, print order. Communicate issues early to avoid production delays. Assist with training new staff when needed. Safety & Shop Standards Follow all safety protocols for chemicals, equipment, and PPE. Keep production areas clean and hazard-free. Contribute to a positive and family-oriented culture at CBT. Required Skills & Experience 1-3 years of screen printing experience (auto press experience preferred). Strong understanding of registration techniques, ink mixing, Pantone matching, mesh counts, and screen tension. Ability to lift 40-50 lbs and stand for long periods. Ability to troubleshoot issues such as detail loss, misregistration, ink drying, or dryer inconsistencies. Able to meet production deadlines and handle high-volume output. Preferred (Not Required) Skills Experience on Anatol Volt or similar auto presses. Knowledge of DTF, DTG, and embroidery workflows. Ability to print complex jobs (halftones, simulated process, oversized prints). Familiarity with shop management systems (DecoNetwork, InkSoft, Printavo, etc.). Understanding of
CMYK + RGBO
extended-gamut printing. Personal Attributes Reliable, punctual, and consistent. Team-oriented with a positive attitude. Detail-oriented and quality-driven. Takes pride in producing clean, accurate work. Adaptable and able to handle multiple job changes in a day. Performance Expectations Maintain 95-100% print quality on all jobs. Meet expected hourly/shift output on auto presses. Minimize spoilage and downtime. Keep workstation clean and organized daily. Help build a strong, professional production culture.
