Job Description

Company Overview:
JR3 Inc. manufactures highly precise multi-axis force/torque sensor systems used in robotics and other advanced technical applications. JR3 Inc. values professionalism, accountability, communication, technical excellence, collaboration, quality, and continuous operational improvement.
Position Summary:
The Assembly Technician III is JR3's highest Assembly Technician classification and represents expert-level technical proficiency, superior workmanship, strong production efficiency, sound judgment, initiative, and demonstrated mastery of JR3 sensor assembly processes. Level III technicians perform complex and sensitive work with a high degree of independence and serve as senior technical resources within Production. Level III technicians are expected to master the principal JR3 assembly processes, take ownership of difficult or high sensitivity builds, perform advanced troubleshooting and approved rework, support special or non routine builds, train other technicians, identify process or documentation concerns, and perform designated resistance readings with 4 wire probe/secondary verification when specifically authorized.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Perform expert-level strain gauge installation, precision wiring, point to point, soldering, electronic component installation, sensor assembly, inspection, and related production processes. Independently complete difficult, sensitive, complex, special, or non-routine builds assigned by Operations and/or Engineering. Maintain exceptional workmanship while working at a consistently efficient production pace. Perform designated double reads, secondary verification, or critical process checks when formally qualified and authorized by JR3. Serve as a qualified second set of eyes for designated readings, assembly checkpoints, documentation, or other verification activities. Identify subtle defects, inconsistencies, abnormal conditions, recurring workmanship issues, or potential process problems and communicate findings promptly. Perform advanced approved rework and assist Operations/Engineering with troubleshooting assembly related issues. Support prototype, first-article, special, or new-process builds when requested and within authorization. Provide hands-on training, demonstrations, and technical guidance to Level I and Level II technicians. Reinforce approved work instructions, workmanship expectations, ESD controls, safety practices, documentation requirements, and quality standards. Identify opportunities to improve tooling, workstation organization, documentation clarity, workflow, or assembly efficiency without independently changing approved processes. Assist in identifying recurring production issues and provide factual observations to Operations and Engineering for corrective action or process review. Independently prioritize assigned work based on production needs and communicate risks that may affect quality, schedule, or capacity. Maintain exemplary production records, traceability, equipment care, workstation organization, and professional conduct. Take on additional technical and production responsibilities appropriate to the senior classification as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
Extensive relevant precision electronics/electromechanical assembly experience with demonstrated expert-level workmanship. Expert proficiency in precision soldering, fine wiring, strain gauge work, component installation, microscope assembly, and detailed inspection. Demonstrated mastery of JR3's principal sensor assembly processes or equivalent capability verified through JR3 qualification. Ability to independently complete difficult, complex, sensitive, prototype, or non-routine assembly work as assigned. Advanced ability to identify subtle workmanship defects, abnormal conditions, process inconsistencies, and likely sources of assembly-related problems. Demonstrated ability to perform advanced approved rework and assist with technical troubleshooting. Ability to maintain a high level of production efficiency while preserving exceptional accuracy and workmanship. Strong initiative, workload management, reliability, communication, and ability to assume additional responsibility without continuous direction. Ability to train and provide technical guidance to Level I and Level II technicians. Ability to perform designated double reads/secondary verification after formal authorization.
Performance Expectations:
Expert-level workmanship and repeatability across principal JR3 assembly processes. Ability to complete difficult and complex work independently. High production efficiency with no compromise to quality or documentation. Strong technical judgment and early recognition of subtle or recurring issues. Reliable execution of authorized double reads/secondary verification. Effective training and technical support of lower-level technicians. Initiative, accountability, workload ownership, and readiness to assume additional responsibilities. Constructive technical feedback to Operations and Engineering.
Physical and Work Environment Requirements:
This position requires repetitive precision hand work; sustained visual focus on small components; use of microscopes or magnification for extended periods; prolonged sitting; safe use of soldering equipment, adhesives, small hand tools, fixtures, and production equipment; and occasional lifting and/or movement of materials up to approximately 20 pounds. The employee must possess sufficient manual dexterity and hand eye coordination to manipulate fine wires, strain gauges, electronic components, and precision tools. Employees must follow approved JR3 procedures, quality requirements, safety rules, ESD controls, and management/Engineering direction. This job description identifies the primary responsibilities of the classification and is not intended to list every task that may be assigned. Additional duties may be assigned when reasonably related to the employee's skills, qualifications, and production needs.
Preferred Qualifications & Certifications:
Prior precision sensor, strain gauge, load cell, aerospace, robotics, medical-device, or other high-reliability manufacturing experience preferred. Experience working within
AS9100, ISO
9001, or another controlled quality-management environment preferred. Relevant soldering, electronics assembly, ESD, or workmanship certifications are preferred when applicable.
