Job Description
Entry Level Laminator / Fiberglass Technician (no experience required)
Department:
Lamination Reports to: Lamination Manager Job description This is an entry level position in our lamination department. The laminator helps build fiberglass boat parts such as hulls, decks, and small parts. Training is provided to learn all steps of the fiberglass layup process including: skin-out, cutting glass, mixing resin, and applying materials in the molds.Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with skin-outs of hulls and small parts by applying the first layers of fiberglass into the molds.
- Learn to cut and prepare fiberglass cloth and mat according to build sheets and patterns.
- Mix resin and catalyst in the proper rations and apply with guns, rollers, or brushes under supervision
- Help with layup of structural parts, including the stringers, bulkheads, and liners.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and properly store materials and tools.
- Follow all safety procedures and wear required PPE.
- Learn to inspect parts for air pockets, dry spots, or other defects before and after cure.
- Assist other laminators and team members as needed to complete daily production goals.
Skills and Qualifications:
- No prior fiberglass experience is required; on the job training is provided.
- Must be motivated, dependable, willing to learn, and able to follow directions.
- Comfortable working in warm environments and with hands-on materials.
- Able to lift up to 50lbs and stand for extended periods.
- Good attention to detail and quality of work.
- Team player with a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
Work Environment:
- Indoor production area with exposure to fiberglass, resin, and related materials.
