As we continue to expand our capabilities, we are seeking a highly skilled Senior Aircraft Structures & Composites Inspector to join our Miramar team and support our mission of keeping aircraft flying safely and efficiently. ________________________________________ Position Overview This senior-level role is ideal for an experienced aircraft structures, composites, or sheet metal mechanic who has transitioned into inspection. You will perform incoming, in process, and final inspections on aircraft airframe and flight control components within our FAA Part 145 Repair Station. This is a hands-on, high responsibility position requiring deep technical knowledge, strong judgment, and the ability to ensure repairs meet all airworthiness, regulatory, and quality standards. ________________________________________ Key Responsibilities Inspection & Airworthiness Assurance Perform incoming, preliminary, in process, and final inspections on aircraft airframe and flight control components. Evaluate damage, defects, corrosion, delamination, disbonding, and structural conformity. Verify compliance with CMMs, SRMs, engineering orders, DER approved data, and all approved technical instructions. Inspect composite repair processes including surface prep, core replacement, ply orientation, vacuum bagging, bonding, and curing. Review cure-cycle records (oven, autoclave, hot bond) when applicable. Quality Control & Documentation Document inspection findings, measurements, discrepancies, and corrective actions with accuracy and clarity. Ensure all required inspection stages are completed and properly recorded. Review work packages for completeness, traceability, and regulatory compliance. Support FAA Form 8130 3 release documentation when authorized. Collaboration & Oversight Work closely with mechanics, supervisors, Engineering, and Quality Assurance. Reject nonconforming work and ensure corrective actions are implemented. Participate in audits, root cause investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives. ________________________________________ Required Qualifications Hands-on aircraft structures, composites, or sheet metal mechanic experience (mandatory). Extensive experience repairing or inspecting flight control components (flaps, slats, spoilers, ailerons, rudders, elevators, panels, fairings). Strong knowledge of bonded, laminated, honeycomb-core, and mechanically fastened structures. Ability to interpret CMMs, SRMs, drawings, repair schemes, and engineering orders. Proficiency with precision inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, borescopes, contour gauges, etc.). Strong communication skills and the ability to professionally communicate rejections or workmanship concerns. ________________________________________ Preferred Qualifications 5+ years of aircraft structural, composite, or sheet metal repair experience. Prior inspection authorization in an FAA Part 145 Repair Station. Experience with Airbus or Boeing flight control components. Familiarity with autoclave, oven-cure, hot bonding, vacuum bagging processes. Knowledge of NDI methods and interpretation.
