Position Summary The Finish Tech II performs intermediate-level finishing work on trailers and trailer components to ensure products meet established quality, appearance, and production standards. This position performs a variety of finish and final-assembly tasks, identifies and corrects finish defects, and supports efficient completion of trailers through the final stages of production. The Finish Tech II is expected to work with limited supervision, maintain consistent quality, and assist less experienced team members as needed. Safety Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and work instructions. Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including eye, hearing, hand, foot, and respiratory protection when applicable. Inspect tools, equipment, ladders, work areas, and materials before use. Follow established procedures for hand and power tools, chemicals, adhesives, sealants, lockout/tagout, and material handling. Immediately report unsafe conditions, damaged equipment, injuries, spills, and near misses to a supervisor. Operate only equipment for which proper training and authorization have been provided. Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area. Essential Duties Perform intermediate-level finish and final-assembly work on trailers and trailer components according to production and quality standards. Install and finish components such as trim, decals, lights, hardware, accessories, sealants, and other final-production items as assigned. Inspect trailers and components for scratches, dents, gaps, alignment issues, cosmetic defects, incomplete work, and other quality concerns. Complete touch-up, repair, adjustment, cleaning, sealing, and corrective finish work within the scope of training and authorization. Read and follow work orders, drawings, specifications, checklists, and supervisor instructions. Use hand tools, power tools, measuring devices, and finishing equipment safely and correctly. Verify completed work for fit, function, appearance, and conformance to company standards before moving units to the next stage. Identify missing, damaged, or incorrect parts and communicate material or quality concerns to the supervisor. Assist with troubleshooting and resolving routine finish and final-assembly issues. Maintain productivity while completing work accurately and within established production schedules. Move, stage, and organize trailers, components, tools, materials, and supplies within the work area. Support rework and repair activities when finish-related concerns are identified during inspection. Assist and provide task-level guidance to Finish Tech I employees or other team members when directed. Coordinate with other production employees to ensure trailers move efficiently through finishing and final inspection. Complete required production, inspection, or quality documentation accurately. Perform other finish and production duties as assigned based on operational needs. Qualifications Previous experience in trailer manufacturing, automotive finishing, final assembly, fabrication, construction, or a related production environment preferred. Working knowledge of common hand and power tools used in finishing and assembly. Ability to perform finish work independently after receiving direction and training. Ability to identify cosmetic, fitment, assembly, and workmanship defects and determine when corrective work is needed. Ability to read and follow work orders, drawings, measurements, specifications, and written instructions. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality finished products. Basic mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a production team. Dependable attendance and ability to maintain productivity in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Willingness to assist in other areas of production as needed. Physical and Work Environment This position works primarily in a manufacturing and production environment and may involve exposure to noise, dust, fumes, chemicals, temperature changes, moving equipment, and other typical industrial conditions. The employee must be able to: Stand and walk for extended periods throughout the work shift. Frequently bend, reach, squat, kneel, climb, push, pull, and perform repetitive movements. Regularly lift and carry materials, tools, parts, and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. Use hand and power tools and maintain manual dexterity for detailed finishing and assembly work. Work around, underneath, and inside trailers as required to complete assigned tasks. Work while wearing required PPE. Visually inspect finished work for appearance, alignment, completeness, and quality.
