Production Assembler 2nd Shift (Cleanroom, Medical Device) Job Description This role involves assembling neurosurgical sponges in a cleanroom environment using thread and sewing needles, performing highly repetitive and precise work that requires strong attention to detail and excellent hand dexterity. You will support daily manufacturing operations, follow detailed work instructions, and help maintain high standards of quality, safety, and productivity in a regulated medical device production setting. Responsibilities Assemble neurosurgical sponges using thread and sewing needles in a cleanroom environment, following detailed work instructions and standard operating procedures. Perform repetitive assembly tasks with consistent quality, accuracy, and speed while maintaining focus and attention to detail. Use hand tools and other basic mechanical tools safely and correctly during the assembly process. Follow medical device manufacturing requirements, including documentation and production line procedures, to ensure compliance with quality and regulatory standards. Visually inspect components, in-process products, and finished assemblies to verify conformance to specifications and identify defects or irregularities. Accurately complete manufacturing documentation, production records, and any required forms or logs to support traceability and reporting. Support a clean, organized, and efficient production area by following cleanroom protocols and maintaining proper handling of materials and equipment. Collaborate with manufacturing team members and leads to meet daily production goals and resolve basic production issues. Adhere to ISO, GMP, and other applicable regulated manufacturing practices, including strict compliance with safety, quality, and cleanliness requirements. Follow all safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment (PPE) while working around manufacturing equipment and materials. Essential Skills Minimum 2 years of manufacturing experience, preferably in a regulated environment. Experience working on a production line with repetitive tasks while maintaining high accuracy and consistency. Cleanroom experience and ability to comply with cleanroom protocols and gowning requirements. Demonstrated ability to follow detailed work instructions and standard operating procedures. Strong hand dexterity and fine motor skills for precise manual assembly using thread, sewing needles, and hand tools. Experience with medical device or medical assembly environments, or other highly regulated production settings. Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, production workflows, and quality requirements. Experience working in an ISO, GMP, or other regulated manufacturing environment (preferred). Ability to complete manufacturing documentation and production reporting accurately and on time (preferred). Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to identify issues on the production line, recommend practical solutions, and escalate concerns appropriately. High school diploma or equivalent. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience supporting or mentoring other manufacturing team members is beneficial. Prior exposure to medical device manufacturing processes and documentation practices. Mechanical aptitude and comfort using basic hand tools in an assembly setting. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality products. Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced production environment. Work Environment This position is based in a cleanroom manufacturing environment on a second-shift schedule, Monday through Thursday, working four 10-hour shifts from 3:45 PM to 2:15 AM. You will spend most of the workday standing and walking, performing repetitive hand and finger movements required for fine assembly tasks. The role requires the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally, as well as bending, reaching, stooping, and kneeling as needed in a production setting. You will work around manufacturing equipment and materials and must follow all safety procedures and company policies. Cleanroom gowning and attire are required, including hairnets, beard covers (as applicable), gloves, smocks, and other personal protective equipment (PPE) to maintain a controlled environment. Visual inspection is a key part of the job, so you must be able to inspect products, materials, and documentation with a high degree of accuracy while working in a structured, process-driven production facility. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Beverly, MA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr.
