Brian Merin; 215-913-8857; bmerin@judge.com Job Summary The Director of Softgel Manufacturing leads all day-to-day production operations within the softgel manufacturing facility. This role ensures products are manufactured safely, efficiently, and on schedule while maintaining strict compliance with GMP, SOPs, OSHA regulations, and quality standards. This leader is responsible for driving operational excellence, continuous improvement, team development, and on-time production delivery.
Key Responsibilities Operations & Production Leadership:
Oversee multi-shift softgel manufacturing operations to ensure safety, quality, and efficiency Manage production teams to meet output targets, timelines, and budget requirements Develop, implement, and optimize manufacturing processes and procedures Ensure compliance with cGMP, SOPs, and regulatory standards
Continuous Improvement:
Foster a culture of continuous improvement across all manufacturing areas Analyze production metrics and implement process improvements Lead initiatives utilizing Lean, Six Sigma, and other World Class Manufacturing principles
People Leadership & Development:
Train, coach, and develop managers, supervisors, and production staff Promote strong employee engagement, morale, and communication Ensure timely completion of all training programs and certifications
Safety & Compliance:
Establish and maintain a strong safety culture Ensure monthly safety training and daily compliance with OSHA regulations Conduct investigations and enforce safety policies and procedures
Strategic Planning & Execution:
Develop departmental CAPEX plans and oversee project execution (on time and within budget) Align operations strategy with company growth objectives Improve operational scalability (people, systems, and processes)
Quality & Troubleshooting:
Address production, formulation, and quality issues Troubleshoot equipment and process challenges Implement contingency plans when needed
Inventory & Efficiency:
Ensure accuracy of inventory related to production processes Monitor cost controls and operational budgets
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Lead hiring, onboarding, and workforce planning efforts Conduct performance evaluations (90-day and annual reviews) Provide coaching, discipline, and feedback as needed Ensure compliance with employment laws and company policies Promote a positive, team-oriented leadership culture
Qualifications:
Required Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution 5-10+ years of manufacturing leadership experience Proven experience managing teams in a regulated manufacturing environment Preferred Experience in softgel, pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, or food manufacturing Background in scaling operations and organizational growth Strong knowledge of GMP, OSHA, SOPs, and quality systems Skills & Competencies Strong leadership, coaching, and team-building skills Expertise in production systems and continuous improvement methods Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities Strong communication and conflict resolution skills Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus Technical Skills Knowledge of SPC, production metrics, and data analysis Proficiency in Microsoft Office and manufacturing systems Additional Information May require extended hours, including evenings and weekends Must adhere to all company policies, procedures, and safety standards
