About the role We self-perform every scope we sell — mill and pave, concrete, grading, striping — for commercial, industrial, and municipal clients across Florida. That only works when somebody owns what happens in the field. That's this job. You'll run production across multiple active jobs: sequencing crews, staging equipment, protecting the schedule, and knowing where every dollar on the job is going before the job tells you. You report directly to the President and have real authority over how work gets executed. What you'll own Daily field operations across all active projects — you're on the jobsites, not behind a desk Crew scheduling: assigning and sequencing crews across concurrent jobs, adjusting for weather, plant availability, and inspection windows Equipment scheduling: making sure the right paver, roller, mill, skid, and trucks are on the right job on the right day — and that they're serviced and moved without dead time Cost analysis: tracking labor hours, tonnage, yields, and material against the estimate; identifying variances early and correcting them, not reporting them after the fact Delivering projects on time, on budget, and at a quality standard that holds up — density, grade, joints, finish, and cleanup Coordinating with superintendents and foremen on daily production targets and next-day plans Managing subs and suppliers on the field side: asphalt plant coordination, trucking, and material deliveries Enforcing safety and MOT requirements on every site Client and inspector communication in the field — GCs, property and facility managers, and municipal inspectors What you need 3+ years managing field production for a paving, concrete, or heavy civil contractor Proven ability to read plans and estimates and run a job against a budget Hands-on experience scheduling crews and heavy equipment across multiple simultaneous jobs Working knowledge of asphalt and concrete means and methods — placement, compaction, curing, joint construction, and common failure modes Comfortable with cost tracking in spreadsheets and construction software; you can build and defend a cost analysis Valid Florida driver's license and a clean driving record Willing to be on jobsites early, in Florida heat, including occasional night and weekend work Nice to have Experience with FDOT, county, or municipal specifications and inspection processes Background running big-box retail facility maintenance work orders (Home Depot, Lowe's, Target, and similar)
OSHA 30, MOT
certification, and ACI or FDOT concrete/asphalt certifications Bilingual English/Spanish Estimating or takeoff experience What success looks like in year one Jobs finish on the date we promised, at or under the estimated cost Equipment and crews stop waiting on each other Cost overruns get caught while the job is running, not at closeout Rework and callbacks go down Clients and inspectors ask for us by name on the next one Why Asphalt Icons Founded in 2017, licensed and bonded, working statewide.
