Great Pay, Benefits + Relocation Assistance Available Job Description What you will be doing: Provide leadership for two manufacturing facilities, an off-site warehouse, and a customer service building. Ensure safe, reliable, high-quality, and cost-effective production while supporting both internal plants and external customers. Lead operational excellence while overseeing major capital investments, including furnace rebuilds, automation initiatives, and future expansion projects. Drive continuous improvement in safety performance and maintain compliance with OSHA, environmental, and company standards. Promote a proactive safety culture focused on hazard identification, risk reduction, and regulatory compliance. Improve productivity, throughput, yield, equipment reliability, OEE, and product quality through Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement. Ensure consistent, on-time delivery of high-quality products while balancing daily operations with long-term asset reliability. Lead and develop a unionized workforce of 600+ hourly and 60+ salaried employees across multiple facilities. Build a culture of accountability, engagement, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Develop leadership talent, succession plans, and strong labor-management relationships. Own plant operating performance, including cost control, inventory, working capital, budgeting, and profitability. Use financial analysis to improve operational efficiency and achieve business objectives. Lead major capital projects, including furnace rebuilds, automation, and capacity expansion, ensuring safe, on-time, and on-budget execution. Support long-term manufacturing strategy through disciplined capital planning and operational improvements. Establish KPIs, reporting systems, and management routines that drive accountability and operational excellence. Partner with senior leadership to execute strategic initiatives and represent the Defiance complex with customers, regulatory agencies, community leaders, and corporate stakeholders.
Experience you will need:
Bachelor's degree required; Engineering or other technical discipline preferred. 12+ years of progressive manufacturing leadership experience. 5+ years as a Plant Manager or equivalent senior manufacturing leader. Experience leading large, multi-line manufacturing operations with union and salaried workforces. Proven success improving safety, quality, productivity, cost, employee engagement, and operational performance. Strong P&L management, budgeting, financial analysis, and capital project experience. Deep knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kepner-Tregoe, or similar continuous improvement methodologies. Experience with environmental compliance, regulatory agencies, and safety programs. Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and change management skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and execute strategic initiatives. Willingness to travel approximately 10-30 days annually. Our client asked me to submit 3 great people within the next few days.
