Ownership Job Summary The General Manager will oversee all daily operations, financial performance, and strategic growth for our 15-employee wooden pallet manufacturing facility . The primary mission of this role is to transition our traditional shop floor into a lean, highly efficient production environment by implementing the Toyota Production System (TPS) also creating and training SOP throughout the business shop floor and administrative offices This is a hands-on leadership role requiring a blend of high-level business strategy, regional supply chain management, and daily on-the-floor personnel management. Key Responsibilities 1.
Lean & TPS Transformation System Rollout:
Design and execute the phased implementation of TPS principles, specifically targeting Just-In-Time (JIT), Jidoka (automation with a human touch), and Heijunka (production leveling).
Visual Management:
Establish 5S workplace organization standards across the lumber yard, assembly lines, and shipping docks.
Continuous Improvement:
Lead daily Kaizen events and implement Kanban pull systems to minimize raw lumber and finished pallet inventory waste.
Standardized Work:
Document exact assembly, quality inspection, and machine maintenance sequences to eliminate operational variance. 2.
Operations & Production Management Daily Oversight:
Manage the end-to-end production of custom and standard wooden pallets, ensuring daily volume targets are met by the 15-person crew.
Workforce Leadership:
Hire, train, schedule, and mentor shop floor employees, fostering a culture of mutual accountability and high morale.
Equipment Optimization:
Oversee the preventative maintenance of automated nailers, bandsaws, chop saws, and forklifts to maximize uptime.
Safety Compliance:
Enforce strict OSHA guidelines and internal safety protocols to maintain a zero-injury workplace. 3.
Supply Chain & Financial Accountability Procurement:
Source and negotiate contracts for raw materials, including Southern yellow pine and hardwood pallet lumber, and bulk fasteners.
Logistics:
Manage regional freight, dispatching, and delivery schedules to clients across Oklahoma and North Texas.
P&L Ownership:
Manage the facility budget, labor costs, raw material scrap rates, and capital expenditure projects to maximize profitability.
Position Requirements Experience:
Minimum of 5 years in manufacturing management, ideally within wood products, lumber, pallet assembly, or industrial packaging.
TPS Expertise:
Proven track record of successfully implementing TPS, Lean Manufacturing, or Six Sigma methodologies in a small-to-mid-sized plant.
Leadership Style:
Hands-on leader who spends time on the floor ( Gemba ) coaching employees, rather than managing exclusively from a desk.
Location:
Ability to work on-site daily in Marietta, Oklahoma. Knowledge of the regional Texas/Oklahoma industrial market is highly preferred.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, Business Administration, or equivalent field experience. Bilingual Preferred Benefits & Compensation Competitive base salary ($70,000- 85,000 depending on experience).
