Job Description
The Manufacturing Manager will direct the daily operations of our machining and parts finishing departments across two shifts. This role requires a strong technical background in manufacturing operations including CNC machining and the leadership skills necessary to manage a specialized team. You will be responsible for taking ownership of the entire lifecycle of machined parts, from CNC programming, through manufacturing, and to final washing, ensuring high-quality output, cost effectiveness, and efficient scheduling.

Purchasing team for procurement of raw material, tools, and capital equipment. Quality Management for FAI and quality control metrology, calibration of equipment, and problem solving. Assembly and Testing for ensuring coordination of finished parts delivery schedule. Facilities Maintenance for ensuring optimal equipment operation. This position reports to theGeneral Manager Key Responsibilities Machining Operations & Scheduling:
Manage all CNC machining activities across two shifts. Develop and execute production schedules to meet delivery targets while maximizing machine utilization.CNC Programming:
Oversee all CNC programming activities. Lead program creation and prove-outs for new parts. Optimize existing programs for efficiency, precision, and tool life.Equipment Lifecycle Management:
Evaluate, recommend, and manage the purchasing of new CNC machine tools. Oversee the maintenance (preventative and reactive) for all CNC equipment to minimize downtime. Ensure work area is clean and organized.Performance Metrics & KPI Monitoring:
Track, analyze, and report on key machine shop metrics, including Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), machine utilization rates, scrap and rework percentages, and cycle time variance. Use this data to drive continuous improvement and optimize throughput.Quality Control & Disposition Authority:
Serve as the primary decision-maker for production continuity when quality issues arise. Exercise immediate "stop-work" authority to halt machining when non-conforming parts are detected or processes drift out of tolerance, preventing further value-add to scrap material.Root Cause Resolution:
Lead rapid troubleshooting and root cause analysis when production is paused due to non-conformances, ensuring the process is fully corrected and validated before authorizing production to resume.Finishing & Processing:
Oversee deburring, spool bore honing, and ultrasonic parts washing operations to ensure all components meet stringent cleanliness and tolerance specifications prior to leaving the department.Team Leadership & Employee Development:
Manage, train, and develop the manufacturing staff. Foster a culture of safety, continuous improvement, and high-performance teamwork.Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Work closely with other functional areas to ensure a seamless handoff of high-quality, finished components and maintain synchronized production schedules.Qualifications & Requirements Experience:
Extensive hands-on experience (5+ years) in CNC machining (preferably horizontal CNC machine), programming, and operations within a manufacturing environment.Leadership:
Proven leadership experience managing teams.Education:
High School diploma or equivalent required. An associate's degree or vocational/trade certification in Precision Machining, CNC Technology, or Manufacturing Technology is highly preferred.Technical Knowledge:
Solid understanding of machining castings and the associated tooling requirements. Demonstrated understanding of machining, associated tooling requirements, and blueprint reading/GD&T. Makino Pro6 control experience preferred. Experience with capital equipment purchasing, capacity planning, and establishing machine maintenance protocols. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to optimize manufacturing processes.Continuous Improvement:
Experience with capacity planning, establishing machine maintenance protocols, and monitoring production KPIs. Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma principles is a plus.Safety:
