This is a full-time, not temp or contract role. Relocation assistance is available! This is a first shift, M- F, 8 A - 5 P position. This is a hands-on manufacturing leadership role responsible for production performance, safety, quality, cost, equipment uptime, continuous improvement, and people leadership. The Unit Manager will oversee human and material resources, drive achievement of daily production targets, and work closely with Maintenance, Engineering, Quality, and other operational teams to improve overall manufacturing performance. Key Responsibilities Lead day-to-day manufacturing operations to achieve safety, quality, production, delivery, and cost targets Manage and develop production staff while establishing clear performance and leadership expectations Drive a strong safety culture, 5S practices, regulatory compliance, and consistent operating standards Manage human and material resources to meet daily production requirements Monitor production performance and quickly identify conditions affecting throughput, quality, cost, or equipment uptime Lead continuous improvement initiatives using data analysis, root cause analysis, and structured problem-solving methodologies Identify recurring production issues and implement sustainable corrective actions Develop a thorough understanding of operating conditions that contribute to achieving or missing daily production targets Prepare and communicate production reports related to safety, quality, output, and cost performance Partner with Maintenance to prioritize equipment needs and preventive maintenance activities Ensure standard operating procedures and training materials are understood, accessible, and consistently followed Maintain departmental PPE compliance and reinforce established safety requirements Drive quality standards and prepare the department for audits and inspections Utilize production/team boards to increase accountability and visibility of operational performance Monitor employee and leadership performance, conduct performance reviews, coach team members, and address underperformance Manage departmental budgets and identify opportunities for cost reduction and operational efficiency Build strong working relationships across Maintenance, Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and other manufacturing functions Qualifications Bachelor's degree required 5+ years of relevant experience in personnel management, project management, engineering, or manufacturing operations within a manufacturing-intensive environment Demonstrated experience leading people and driving operational performance in a production environment Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, production planning, quality, cost control, and resource allocation Working knowledge of manufacturing equipment, preventive/predictive maintenance, and equipment reliability Demonstrated ability to use data, root cause analysis, and critical thinking to solve complex production problems Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and performance-management skills Ability to effectively collaborate across production, maintenance, engineering, quality, and other departments Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Industrial Engineering , or another technical discipline MBA, advanced technical degree, or advanced business degree Leadership experience within automotive, tire/rubber, chemical, plastics, high-volume assembly, or another complex manufacturing environment Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, 5S, root cause analysis, and equipment reliability initiatives Physical Requirements This position requires regular movement throughout a large manufacturing facility and production environment, occasional use of stairs, and the ability to occasionally move equipment or supplies weighing up to 25 pounds. Pay:
$95,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
