What to Expect
Tesla is seeking a Production Manager to lead solar manufacturing operations at a massive 100 GW scale. This role will be a core leader in our new Solar Manufacturing organizationandwill help build and run a high-volume process area within a new greenfield facility. Depending on experience, this role may own Ingot, Wafer, or Cell manufacturing. This is a hands-on leadership role for an operator of scale who thrives on building teams, launching processes, and delivering world-class safety, quality, delivery, and cost. This role is core to Tesla's mission of accelerating the world's transition to amazing abundance. You will report to the Sr. Manager, Operations and be a key driver of best-in-class manufacturing performance on the shop floor. What You'll Do
During launch of this greenfield facility, lead production readiness including commissioning support, staffing, training, and work instruction rollout
Monitor production KPIs from ramp to steady-state operations, identify losses, and close performance gaps in collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders (engineering, maintenance, quality, etc.)
Build the production team of salaried and hourly members that enables our ramp schedule
Maintain floor discipline through standardized work, 5S, documentation control, and consistent operating practices
Lead response to safety, quality, and process issues, including containment, root cause support, and corrective action follow-through
Support new product, material, and process introductions through shop-floor readiness, training, pilot runs, and ramp execution
Lead continuous improvement projects that improve safety, yield, throughput, labor efficiency, and cost What You'll Bring
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent professional experience
10+ years in high-volume, high-speed manufacturing; solar or semiconductor strongly preferred with 7+ years of progressive operations leadership in a manufacturing environment
Experience supporting factory launch, equipment start-up, or production ramp
Working knowledge of standardized work, lean manufacturing, 5S, and structured problem-solving frameworks
Ability to use production data and root cause methods to improve yield, uptime, and throughput
Clear written and verbal communication skills with operators, engineers, and senior leadership
Capability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally. Travel will vary based on launch timing. More frequently during build, less frequently during HVM and sustaining Compensation and Benefits
