Laboratory Director Arlington, WA | Full-Time | Salaried Lead a High-Performing Cannabis Extraction Laboratory An established and growing Washington cannabis producer and processor is seeking an experienced Laboratory Director to oversee extraction operations, production planning, inventory strategy, compliance, and continuous process improvement. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for ensuring efficient laboratory operations while maintaining exceptional product quality, regulatory compliance, and production performance. We're looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and enjoys building systems, solving operational challenges, and leading a high-performing team. ResponsibilitiesLaboratory Leadership Oversee daily extraction, post-processing, and concentrate production operations. Manage hydrocarbon and solventless extraction workflows from raw material through finished products. Lead laboratory staff while fostering accountability, efficiency, and continuous improvement. Maintain a safe, organized, and compliant laboratory environment. Develop, improve, and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Production Planning & Inventory Management Monitor inventory levels and production forecasts to maintain healthy stock across all concentrate categories. Plan production schedules based on inventory trends, sales demand, and lead times. Maintain a balanced assortment of Indica, Hybrid, and Sativa products whenever material availability allows. Review bulk inventory weekly and prioritize upcoming production runs. Coordinate sourcing of additional material when necessary to maintain product availability. Manufacturing & Workflow Coordination Build and manage daily production schedules. Coordinate material movement from extraction through finished goods. Manage quality control submissions and production testing schedules. Track production lots, manifests, and inventory movements. Maintain accurate production records and inventory visibility across internal tracking systems. Compliance & Quality Assurance Ensure all operations comply with Washington State cannabis regulations. Coordinate compliance testing with third-party laboratories. Maintain complete batch records, inventory documentation, and production records. Stay current with regulatory changes and industry best practices. Process Improvement Participate in research and development initiatives. Identify opportunities to improve production efficiency and consistency. Perform and oversee routine equipment maintenance and calibration. Collaborate with operations and leadership teams to improve manufacturing performance. QualificationsRequired 3+ years of cannabis extraction or laboratory leadership experience. Strong understanding of hydrocarbon extraction and/or solventless processing. Experience managing production schedules and inventory. Knowledge of Washington cannabis regulations and compliance requirements. Strong leadership, organization, and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced production environment. Preferred Background in chemistry, biology, engineering, or a related scientific field. Experience with inventory management and production planning software. Experience developing SOPs and improving manufacturing processes. Familiarity with state traceability systems. Experience with continuous improvement or Lean manufacturing principles.
