Night-Shift
PLANER SUPERVISOR
Jasper Lumber Company, LLC- Jasper, AL- Attractive Salary
- Jasper Lumber Company, LLC, a producer of Southern Yellow Pine top-quality lumber, is operated by Canada's Tolko Industries, a well-established, growth-oriented forest products company.
- Supervise Planer Mill operations within the sawmill, with safety as the top priority.
- Train and coach employees on safe work practices, job procedures, and proper equipment operation.
- Ensure all equipment and work areas are properly inspected, maintained, and kept clean on a daily basis.
- Monitor production to ensure quality standards and product specifications are consistently met.
- Enforce company policies, procedures, and safety regulations in a fair and consistent manner.
- Oversee employee performance and disciplinary matters; recommend and administer corrective action in accordance with company policy.
- Communicate and coordinate with internal departments to resolve issues, meet production goals, and maximize resources.
- Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications
- Previous supervisory experience with strong leadership and team‑building abilities.
- Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and demonstrated commitment to workplace safety.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to think and act strategically.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong time management and organizational skills.
- Basic computer skills (production reporting, email, data entry).
- Post-secondary education preferred in an industrial or manufacturing-related field (or high school diploma/GED with a minimum of two years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment).
- Operating knowledge of planer equipment, lumber grading, and finishing processes.
- Understanding of lumber quality standards, specifications, and defect identification.
- Ability to read and interpret production reports, SOPs, and safety documentation.
- Familiarity with preventive maintenance practices and the ability to coordinate with maintenance teams to minimize downtime.
- Experience conducting safety meetings, job observations, and incident investigations.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including overtime, to support operational demands.
