Job Summary:
We are seeking motivated Plant Supervisor to join our growing biochar manufacturing team. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a new operation from the ground up. As a Plant Supervisor, you will play a key role in operating and maintaining production equipment, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality output. We are particularly interested in hands-on professionals from industrial environments such as food processing, power generation, oil and gas, or similar fields who are passionate about operational excellence. This role offers meaningful growth opportunities as we scale operations and bring additional facilities online.Supervisory Responsibilities :
Yes Essential Functions:
Accountable for the safety, quality, productivity, housekeeping, and overall performance of assigned personnel. Provide direct leadership to plant operators and executing daily maintenance activities Manage and coordinate daily maintenance work to ensure high-quality execution and schedule adherence Support and drive proactive maintenance planning, scheduling, and execution strategies Ensure m work aligns with company standards, best practices, and site procedures Review equipment purchases, installations, and modifications to ensure compliance with industry and site standards Support long-term production and maintenance planning, asset management strategies, and reliability initiatives Lead and support incident investigations; implement corrective actions and lessons learned Maintain working knowledge of plant processes and operating requirements Identify, report, and correct safety hazards; implement risk mitigations as required Support prioritization of routine, corrective, and shutdown maintenance work Manage overtime usage and contract labor effectively Perform periodic backlog reviews within the work management system Oversee the pyrolysis process from raw feedstock to finished biochar, ensuring production targets are met. Monitor and optimize high-temperature units (pyrolysis equipment) and maintain plant efficiency. Supervise and lead technicians, assigning daily work orders based on operational priorities. Support onboarding, training, coaching, and performance evaluation of maintenance staff. Communicate equipment issues, repair needs, and parts requirements to leadership. Record production data, manage inventory, and test product quality. Monitor for quality control and ensure compliance with environmental and safety standards. Partner with operations teams to schedule repairs and minimize equipment downtime. Respond to urgent repair needs and emergency maintenance situations as required. Reliable transportation to and from jobsite, and consistent attendance Ability to operator heavy equipment such as a forklift Other duties as assignedKnowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Experience:
1.Minimum Education Required:
High School Diploma or Equivalent Required Ability to read, write, and basic math calculations 2.Experience:
5-10 years minimum of relevant supervisory experience in manufacturing or industrialPreferred:
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and SAP 2-3 Years of Experience using SAP Maintenance Module Preferred but not required: Experience in biochar production, pyrolysis systems, or chemical processing. 3.Skills, Ability, and Knowledge:
Strong interpersonal, planning, problem-solving, and organizational skills Demonstrated ability to lead in a fast-paced, team-based environment Knowledge of PLC controls, Production Process (Pyrolysis), or biochar processes preferred. Ability to operate industrial production equipment in a safe and efficient manner. Follow diagrams, SOPs, and operational manuals Follow company policies, and safety practices when performing job duties Strong commitment to safety and ability to follow and enforce safety procedures, based on Cal-OSHA, Site-Specific, Environmental Regulations, and Company Safety protocols Knowledge of OSHA regulations and industrial safety practices. Ability to ensure preventive maintenance schedules are followed and completed on time. Knowledge and Proficiency in hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems, as well as welding and precision alignment tools. This position requires excellent communication skills, and the ability to communicate well with team. Ability to work independently, self-starter, energetic, demonstrates good common sense and sound judgment Ability to work in varied indoor/outdoor environments, lift heavy materials when needed, and work in high-temperature environments Ability to maintain work area clean, organized, and hazard-free Ability to work extended hours, holidays and weekends when needed. 4.Physical Requirements:
Ability to push, pull, carry, and lift up to a maximum of 50 lbs. Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods at a time Occasionally required to bend, kneel, bend, and stoop Climb ladders, and walk on heights greater than 4 ft Manual dexterity sufficient to reach, grasp, hold, handle items, and work with fingers, wrists, elbows, and shoulders. Clear vision (close and distant), peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to focus. Hearing adequate for working safely around industrial setting, vehicles, and team membersIndustrial Setting:
Exposure to dust, biochar particles, and machinery Ability to use Respiratory Mask-Requires a Pass on Respiratory Physical. Questionnaire /Spirometry/Mask Fitting 5.Work Environment:
Industrial Setting Outdoors exposed to changing weather conditions, such as cold, fog, rain, heat, dust, wind, sun, etc. Moderate noise levels typical of industrial equipment and tools. Entrepreneurial environment focused on innovation and sustainability. 6.Benefits:
