You will lead a team that welds precision sheet metal components and frames in a job shop environment. Working with your manager, you will assign jobs to your welders based on qualification, capability, and fit. The work varies with different customers having different requirements so having attention to detail and the ability to interpret prints quickly and accurately is important.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensure your team is welding jobs to spec and efficiently Perform first and last piece buyoffs of welded parts (lead inspection). Troubleshoot issues and know when to make a judgment call, and when to defer to your manager or Engineering Create and use simple jigs and fixtures Weld. You'll lead your team, and produce parts yourself Interact with our ERP system correctly (punching in and out of jobs) As with all that work at Inland, help your fellow departments when they get in trouble.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS REQUIRED
Minimum 7 years' experience with
MIG & TIG
welding Must be able to properly use relevant inspection equipment such as calipers and height gages. Physical strength to repeatedly lift and carry 25 lbs. Knowledge of and adherence to welding safety standards Experience managing, supervising, or leading Can lay down a good attractive weld with a steady hand. You will be asked to perform a weld test during the interview.
