The Structural Supervisor is assigned to a ship superintendent and is given a variety of responsibilities by the Production Manager to include an understanding of the complexity of the structural repair environment with the goal of ensuring that a project is completed on time, within budget, and according to the requirements. The Structure Supervisor must be able to interpret specifications and structure drawings for repairs and installation. The Structure Supervisor wears several hats. This includes variable hours, short-notice schedule changes, weekend work. Most importantly, the Structural Supervisor must demonstrate a high interest in satisfying the customer.

Requirements of the position:

a. Read/write/speak English. b. Demonstrate basic math skills. c. Near vision acuity correctable to 20/20 or better. d. Lift and carry up to 50 pounds of equipment. e. Have a HS diploma or GED. f. Able to pass a security background check. g. Able to pass a drug screen. h. Must have a California driver's license. i. Able to work onboard ship; Climb ladders, scaffolds, work in confined spaces and on platforms off the ground. j. Must be able to follow specifications, blueprints, layouts, and work orders. k. Be familiar with Navsea standard items such as 009-05, 009-12, 009-23, 009-24, 009-25, 009-71, 009-81. l. Show leadership abilities and excellent writing and communication skills. m. Able to efficiently manage work force on multiple job sites. n. Should have the ability to list equipment and tools required for task assignments. o. Knowledge of welding and brazing procedures for types of alloys required. p. Able to read Structure blueprints, order material from spec's and list of material to fabricate finish product. q. Can manage work on multiple ships.

Responsibilities:

a. Plan the schedule and ensure material is ordered and on hand to support job requirements as outlined by the ship superintendent they are assigned to. b. Attend Meetings to coordinate and plan with the appropriate personnel for accomplishing the job. c. Coordinate with the Production Manager for manpower and ensuring manpower is available and/or used effectively to complete project according to time frame and budget allowance. d. Conduct team meetings, execute plans and adjust schedules as necessary. e. Submit daily task plan before start of shift and submit progress percentage. f. When necessary, develop schedule of projects and forward it to ship superintendent. g. Submit list of materials required to accomplish tasks using requisition forms. h. Submit documentation for change orders and required reports. i. When submitting IDRs, the Ship Superintendent shall review labor cost on new work. j. Assist QA Environmental & Safety Department. k. Coordinate and oversee the inspections. l. Help maintain customer satisfaction. m. Submit WAF with any job that invokes Standard Items. n. Take Paint Samples with any job that invokes Standard Items. o. TIPs list required on all jobs that invoke standard items. p. Supervisors are responsible for submitting IDRs, required reports, and maintaining all documents. After submitting an IDR, you will be given a copy with a date when to expect your reply. If, when that date expires and you have not received your reply to the IDR, please resubmit a written request for the reply of your IDR. q. Must be able to support weekend work.

Pay:

$75,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
