Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Hollow Metal Supervisor to lead the day-to-day operations of our Hollow Metal department. This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who understands Hollow Metal production, knows how to manage a team, and has an exceptional eye for detail. The ideal candidate will have proven supervisory or management experience, strong Hollow Metal knowledge, and the ability to keep purchasing, production, material flow, and field installation schedules accurate, organized, and on schedule. Key Responsibilities Supervise, coordinate, and oversee daily operations of the Hollow Metal department. Lead, train, coach, and hold team members accountable for productivity, quality, safety, attendance, and accuracy. Prepare, review, and organize Hollow Metal production order forms to ensure orders are complete and accurate before entering production. Read and interpret production orders, specifications, and door/frame requirements. Purchase Hollow Metal materials needed for production and ensure materials are ordered accurately and available when required. Respond to and manage purchasing-related quotes, including obtaining pricing, comparing options, and coordinating material purchases. Proof and verify purchasing confirmations to ensure quantities, sizes, specifications, pricing, finishes, and other order details are correct before materials are received. Communicate with vendors regarding pricing, availability, lead times, order confirmations, and discrepancies. Monitor material availability and proactively identify potential shortages or delays that could impact production. Ensure Hollow Metal doors and frames are manufactured and prepared according to customer and project requirements. Coordinate scheduling with the field installation team to ensure Hollow Metal doors and frames are produced, staged, and available in accordance with installation schedules. Communicate with field personnel regarding installation dates, production status, material availability, and any changes that may impact installation. Coordinate production priorities based on field installation schedules and project deadlines. Communicate effectively with sales, purchasing, warehouse, field installation teams, and branch management. Oversee the accurate labeling and identification of Hollow Metal doors and frames. Maintain highly organized purchasing and production documentation. Inspect completed work for accuracy and quality and identify potential issues before products leave the facility. Assist with production planning, material flow, and scheduling. Operate and oversee the safe operation of forklifts and other material-handling equipment. Use MIG welding skills and knowledge to support department operations and troubleshoot issues when necessary. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Troubleshoot production, purchasing, and material issues and take ownership of resolving problems quickly and effectively. Identify opportunities to improve department efficiency, organization, quality, purchasing, and overall production performance. Required Qualifications Prior management or supervisory experience - REQUIRED Hollow Metal experience - REQUIRED Strong knowledge of Hollow Metal doors, frames, and production processes. Experience preparing and working with Hollow Metal production order forms. Experience purchasing Hollow Metal materials. Experience obtaining, responding to, and managing purchasing-related quotes. Strong ability to proof and verify purchasing confirmations and orders for accuracy. MIG welding knowledge/experience. Forklift experience - REQUIRED Exceptional organizational skills. Extreme attention to detail. Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced production environment. Ability to coordinate effectively between production and field installation teams. Ability to work independently and take ownership of the department. Minimum typing speed of 40 words per minute for accurately preparing labels for Hollow Metal doors and frames. Reliable transportation. Dependable attendance and strong work ethic. What We're Looking For We are looking for someone who is dependable, organized, accountable, and extremely detail-oriented. The right candidate will be a leader who takes ownership of the entire Hollow Metal process—from purchasing and verifying materials, to preparing production orders, managing the team, coordinating with the field for installation, and ensuring finished doors and frames are accurate and ready when needed. This person must be comfortable communicating with vendors, reviewing quotes and confirmations, managing purchasing details, coordinating production priorities, and working directly with the field installation team to ensure projects stay on schedule. Pay:
