Job Description

What We're Looking For We are seeking experienced, hands-on Manufacturing Team Leads to support multiple areas of our manufacturing operation. Team Leads will provide daily leadership, direction, training, and support to production teams while working alongside employees on the manufacturing floor. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership experience, manufacturing or skilled-trade experience, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to read and accurately use a tape measure. Candidates should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, solving problems, supporting multiple trades, and holding team members accountable for safety, quality, productivity, and attendance. This role may support a variety of manufacturing areas, including piping, refrigeration, insulation, welding, sheet metal, electrical, assembly, panel work, fabrication, quality, and other skilled-trade operations. What You'll Be Responsible ForSafety Lead by example and ensure team members follow all safety policies, procedures, and programs. Promote a strong Safety-First culture throughout the work area. Track and communicate safety performance, concerns, and opportunities for improvement. Ensure 6S and other workplace safety and organization processes are followed. Address unsafe conditions and behaviors and escalate issues when necessary. Support company safety goals and initiatives. Quality Ensure team members follow established quality policies, procedures, work instructions, and specifications. Monitor work for accuracy, quality, and compliance with customer and company requirements. Support quality audits, inspections, quality gates, and problem-solving activities. Identify quality issues and assist with determining root causes and corrective actions. Review completed work and documentation for accuracy. Partner with Quality, Engineering, Production, and other departments to resolve issues. Help ensure proper handoffs between shifts and departments. Promote continuous improvement and a culture of doing the job right the first time. Production & Productivity Lead and assign daily work to team members based on production schedules and priorities. Ensure daily production goals, standard hours, quality requirements, and delivery expectations are met. Monitor team productivity and communicate performance against established goals. Identify bottlenecks, delays, and process issues and assist with solutions. Work alongside team members to maintain production flow when staffing shortages or absenteeism occur. Help establish and improve standard work and production processes. Support continuous improvement efforts designed to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and improve lead times. Communicate production priorities and changes to team members throughout the shift. Leadership & Team Development Conduct daily team huddles and communicate safety, quality, productivity, staffing, and production priorities. Assign tasks and ensure team members understand expectations. Provide daily coaching, direction, and feedback to employees. Foster teamwork, accountability, communication, and a positive work environment. Train and develop new and existing employees. Perform and support On-the-Job Training (OJT) . Maintain and update training documentation and skills matrices as required. Encourage employees to learn additional skills and develop within the organization. Support cross-training between departments and trades. Lead by example by working alongside team members and demonstrating proper work practices. Step in and perform hands-on work when necessary to support production. Technical & Trade Support Demonstrate the ability to understand and perform work within a manufacturing or skilled-trade environment. Use mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience to assist with troubleshooting and production issues. Read and accurately use a tape measure, including fractions and decimals. Read and understand drawings, diagrams, blueprints, job specifications, work instructions, and schedules. Understand basic measurements and apply basic math, fractions, decimals, and geometry to manufacturing tasks. Support multiple trades and be willing to learn new processes and equipment. Assist team members with technical questions and escalate engineering or part-related issues to the appropriate department. Work with supervisors, engineers, quality personnel, and other departments to resolve problems. Communication & Continuous Improvement Maintain effective communication through team huddles, visual management boards, and other floor communication tools. Communicate team performance, production concerns, quality issues, and staffing needs to the appropriate supervisor. Participate in Lean, 6S, continuous improvement, and problem-solving initiatives. Support the implementation of new processes, procedures, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, productivity, and employee development. Support Production and Quality Supervisors and Managers in meeting and exceeding department goals. What We're Looking ForRequired Qualifications High school diploma or GED preferred. 3+ years of manufacturing, skilled-trade, mechanical, fabrication, construction, or related experience preferred. Previous leadership experience such as Team Lead, Lead Technician, Foreman, Senior Technician, Trainer, Supervisor, or similar role strongly preferred. Must be able to read and accurately use a tape measure. Must understand fractions and decimals . Ability to read and interpret work instructions, safety rules, procedures, drawings, diagrams, and specifications. Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, or similar systems. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work hands-on in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Preferred Skills & Experience Candidates with experience in any of the following areas are encouraged to apply: Refrigeration Piping / Pipefitting HVAC Welding / Brazing Sheet Metal Electrical Panel Wiring Insulation Mechanical Assembly Fabrication Manufacturing Quality Inspection Machine Operation Blueprint Reading Industrial or Commercial Construction Lean Manufacturing / 6S To Be Successful in This Role The ideal Team Lead is a hands-on leader who can lead people and understands the work being performed. You should be comfortable giving direction, holding employees accountable, training others, solving problems, and stepping in to help when the team needs support.
