Sawmill Supervisor - Job Description Position Summary Thompson Hardwoods, Inc. is seeking an experienced and motivated Sawmill Supervisor to oversee daily sawmill production operations at our Hazlehurst, Georgia facility. This leadership role is responsible for supervising production employees, maintaining safe and efficient operations, ensuring product quality, and meeting production goals in a fast-paced hardwood sawmill environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, operational knowledge, and a commitment to safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities Supervise and coordinate daily sawmill production activities Lead and support production employees to meet safety, quality, and productivity goals Monitor workflow, equipment performance, and production output Ensure compliance with all company safety policies and OSHA regulations Train, coach, and develop team members on equipment operation and work procedures Communicate production goals, schedules, and operational updates to employees Coordinate with maintenance personnel to minimize downtime and address equipment issues Maintain accurate production and operational records Promote housekeeping, organization, and safe work practices throughout the facility Identify opportunities for process improvement and operational efficiency Qualifications Qualifications High school diploma or GED required Previous supervisory experience in a sawmill, manufacturing, or industrial environment is required Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills Working knowledge of sawmill operations, production processes, and equipment Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Strong commitment to workplace safety and employee development Basic computer and reporting skills preferred Preferred Experience Experience in hardwood sawmill operations Knowledge of lumber grading and quality control processes Familiarity with preventive maintenance coordination and production scheduling Physical Requirements Ability to work in a noisy, dusty, and physically demanding industrial environment Ability to stand and walk for extended periods Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds Ability to climb stairs, bend, stoop, and inspect production areas Ability to work 12-hour shifts, weekends, and holidays as required Benefits Stable full-time employment Health, dental, vision, and retirement benefits (if applicable) Paid time off and holiday pay Career advancement opportunities Team-oriented work environment About Thompson Hardwoods Thompson Hardwoods, Inc. is one of the largest hardwood sawmills in the United States, producing quality hardwood and cypress lumber products for domestic and international markets. Pay:
