Job Description

Position Summary The Production & Toolroom Manager is responsible for overseeing daily manufacturing operations, production performance, tooling activities, and the maintenance and readiness of production equipment and tooling. This position leads production and toolroom teams to ensure products are manufactured safely, efficiently, on schedule, and to established quality standards. The ideal candidate combines strong production-management skills with hands-on knowledge of tooling, machining, fabrication, maintenance, and continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities Production Management Plan, organize, and supervise daily production activities to meet customer demand and production schedules. Monitor production output, labor utilization, downtime, scrap, efficiency, and overall equipment performance. Establish priorities and allocate manpower, equipment, materials, and resources effectively. Ensure production employees follow established work instructions, procedures, and quality requirements. Identify production bottlenecks and implement corrective actions to improve throughput and efficiency. Coordinate with Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, Purchasing, and Supply Chain to resolve production issues. Maintain accurate production records, schedules, and performance reports. Promote lean manufacturing, 5S, waste reduction, and continuous-improvement initiatives. Toolroom Management Manage daily operations of the toolroom, including tool, die, fixture, gauge, and mold fabrication, repair, and maintenance as applicable. Schedule toolroom work based on production requirements and business priorities. Ensure tooling is available, properly maintained, and ready to support production schedules. Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance of tooling and related equipment. Review tooling requirements for new products and production changes. Work closely with Engineering on tool design, modifications, improvements, and troubleshooting. Establish standards for tool inspection, maintenance, storage, and documentation. Monitor toolroom costs, material usage, outside services, and departmental expenses. Leadership & Employee Development Lead, coach, and develop production and toolroom personnel. Establish clear performance expectations and hold employees accountable for results. Assist with recruiting, onboarding, training, and performance evaluations. Identify skill gaps and develop cross-training programs to increase workforce flexibility. Maintain a culture focused on safety, quality, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement. Quality & Safety Ensure all production and toolroom activities comply with company safety policies and applicable regulations. Promote a proactive safety culture and address unsafe conditions immediately. Work with Quality to investigate defects, customer complaints, and process issues. Implement corrective and preventive actions when required. Ensure tooling and production processes consistently meet dimensional and quality requirements. Continuous Improvement Identify opportunities to reduce downtime, scrap, setup time, labor costs, and tooling expenses. Lead or participate in process-improvement and lean-manufacturing projects. Use production data and key performance indicators to drive decisions. Standardize successful processes and continuously improve departmental performance. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Operations, or a related field preferred; equivalent technical experience may be considered. 5+ years of progressive manufacturing experience, with supervisory or management experience preferred. Strong knowledge of production processes and manufacturing operations. Experience managing a toolroom, machine shop, or tooling operation strongly preferred. Knowledge of CNC machining, tooling, fixtures, dies, gauges, or molds depending on the manufacturing environment. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications. Strong problem-solving and root-cause-analysis skills. Experience with lean manufacturing, 5S, continuous improvement, or similar methodologies. Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and manufacturing/ERP systems. Preferred Skills CNC machining and programming knowledge Tool and die experience Preventive maintenance experience Production scheduling Lean/Six Sigma experience Cost reduction and productivity improvement Root Cause Analysis / 8D / CAPA GD&T knowledge ERP/MRP systems experience Experience managing union or non-union manufacturing environments Key Performance Indicators The Production & Toolroom Manager will be measured on: On-time production performance Production efficiency and throughput Scrap and rework reduction Equipment and tooling downtime Toolroom turnaround time Labor productivity Manufacturing cost reduction Quality performance Safety performance Employee development and retention Continuous-improvement results Working Conditions This position is primarily based in a manufacturing and toolroom environment and requires regular interaction with production equipment, machinery, tooling, and manufacturing personnel. Appropriate personal protective equipment must be worn as required.

•Salary negotiable based on experience

Pay:

$100,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
