is located in Walker, MI, we specialize in unique custom packaging applications using Polyethylene (PE) Foam, Bubble, and Non-Woven Spun Bond Polypropylene (SBPP) protective packaging materials. Our manufacturing technology utilizes state of the art, customizable sheet, bubble bag, die cut and laminating equipment that allows us to produce custom packaging. We are looking for an experienced Production Shift Supervisor to join our team.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Follows safe operating procedures and practices while maintaining a clean and orderly work area 2. Responsible for adhering to plant and shift policies and procedures 3. Manages shift assignments to meet schedule demand for both Direct and Indirect Labor 4. Coaches employees on performance, attendance, quality and behavioral issues 5. Issues employee disciplinary actions 6. Reviews shift time and attendance in Global Shop and corrects errors 7. Conducts employee performance evaluations with recommendations 8. Verifies shift production quantities, time and raw material 9. Leads containment activities during quality incidents 10. Responsible for shifts Key Performance Indicators (KPI's), machine hours, efficiencies, scrap and quality 11. Analyzes production data and develops corrective actions to improve performance 12. Facilitates daily shift meetings and KPI reviews 13. Communicates shift performance and operational challenges to the Manufacturing Manager 14. Oversees employee training/cross training 15. Assists in machine set ups, roll changes, performs adjustments as needed 16. Partners with Quality, Customer Service and Manufacturing Manager on customer complaints and nonconformances 17. Responsible for plant start up and plant shut down
Job Qualifications:
1. The job requires knowledge normally acquired through the completion of High School or equivalent 2. Valid Driver's license and ability to maintain forklift lift certificates 3. Interpersonal skills to effectively communicate and motivate team members 4. Mental ability to periodically handle pressures related to coordinating projects requiring attention and detail and if/when priorities and job duties change on a frequent basis 5. Follow work and quality instructions 6. Demonstrated comprehension of basic math skills, e.g., addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, percentages, etc. 7. Accurately use a tape measure 8. Mechanical aptitude 9. Must be able to independently resolve issues with a degree of creativity and latitude 10. Physical ability to lift, transport equipment and materials weighing up to 70 pounds as well as work in awkward positions requiring bending and twisting
Working Conditions:
1. Inside working conditions with exposure to hot and cold conditions 2. Work includes periodic exposure to fumes, odors, dust, noise and moving objects 3. Work includes exposure to hazards associated with electrical and mechanical equipment Other duties and responsibilities: 1. Performs Set up Technician, Material Handler, Machine Operator, Slitter responsibilities when required 2.
