Production Supervisor Full Job Description We're looking to add a Production Supervisor to our team. This is a great opportunity to join a growing company and build a career with us. Data Metalcraft is a manufacturer of formed sheet metal and welded cabinets used in fiber communications, power grids, and industrial products. Our products utilize a broad range of materials, including aluminum, stainless steel, and mild steel. The Production Supervisor is responsible for the supervision of production employees and ownership of their department performance. This person provides leadership for safety, quality, productivity, housekeeping, and company values while promoting positive employee relations within the production team. This person is responsible for ensuring that the production schedules are adhered to and responsible for assigning work to ensure parts and assemblies are produced efficiently, on time, within budget, and to specifications. Essential Functions The primary duties and responsibilities of the Production Supervisor consist of but are not limited to: Coordinate departmental activities to optimize schedule attainment with consideration of safety, quality, delivery, and cost Analyze and act on production dashboard reports (KPI's) daily to measure and ensure effectiveness, productivity, and throughput goals are met Provide effective communication with direct reports through, daily check-in's and team meetings to address and resolve any issues and concerns Lead by example, regularly provide coaching, mentoring, development opportunities, recognition, and appreciation to employees Partner with Operations Manager and Scheduling on issues and obstacles to overcome and work to ensure all machines, equipment, and resources are optimized. Ensure shift administrative activities such as time reporting, attendance control, time off requests, overtime, etc. are properly implemented and documented Work collaboratively and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams and interfaces with all departments within the organization to achieve goals and objectives. Identify and assign Continuous Improvement, effective 5S and good housekeeping standards and ensure goals are being met Actively participates operational meetings, prepared to communicate what is going well and challenges on the shop floor Coordinates a seamless hand-off of work-in-process to the next shift, works collaboratively and proactively with other supervisors to ensure work continues to run efficiently throughout the shop Monitor and drive cost reductions, such as waste, scrap, damage, and rework Communicate expectations, measure, and assess employee performance by giving positive, effective, and professional feedback regularly and during the annual formal review process; address complaints and resolves problems fairly and consistently; partners with management and human resources to administer disciplinary action if needed Lead and promote safety initiatives, participates in the company safety committee Participates in interviewing, hiring, and training employees; ensure employees receive adequate training prior to operating any of the manufacturing equipment and that they follow the standard operating procedures and work instructions Other tasks as assigned, may perform special projects or assignments as directed by leadership Education and Experience High School diploma or equivalent Two-year Technical degree and business courses 4+ years' experience with precision CNC manufacturing equipment, materials, processes, and systems in versatile manufacturing environments strongly preferred 2-5 years of leadership experience with teams of 10 employees or greater preferred Competencies Able prioritize work, meet deadlines, make effective and timely decisions and work with a sense of urgency Ability to analyze production data/reports to assess impact on throughput, efficiencies, and other Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) Strong business judgment, along with technical understanding of machining and finishing processes Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications preferred Identifies and analyzes problems; distinguishes between relevant and irrelevant information to make logical decisions; provides solutions to individual and organizational problems Ability to express ideas, share information, listen actively, and demonstrate professionalism in written and verbal communications Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling employee relation situations Proficient in using Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Power Point) Physical Requirements Ability to continually stand, walk and sit for extended periods of time throughout the workday Must be willing to spend 95% of time on production floor Required to use motor coordination with finger dexterity (such as keyboarding, use of mouse, etc.) most of the work day; activities such as but not limited to lifting, bending, stooping, reaching, grasping, pushing, pulling, twisting and turning occasionally throughout shift Exposure to shop elements such as noise, dust, odors, heat and cold Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. regularly and up to 70lbs. occasionally
