POSITION OVERVIEW
We are looking for a hardworking, mechanically inclined Installation Crew Lead who wants more than just a paycheck. This is a unique hybrid position designed for someone who can move fluidly between the shop and the field while taking on leadership responsibilities. You will be floating between shop fabrication, field installation, and client-facing coordination — and for the right person, this is a fast-track opportunity to move into Project Management or a Lead Installer role.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Field & Customer Coordination Project Management:
Assist in scheduling jobs and ensuring the crew has the right materials for the day's tasks.
Customer Relations:
Function as a professional point of contact on-site, answering client questions and ensuring their satisfaction with the final install.
Site Leadership:
Use of basic power tools to ensure structural integrity while maintaining a safe, organized job site.
Shop Fabrication & Logistics Awning Fitment:
Custom-fit fabric onto frames, mastering the stapling-in process to deliver a tight, premium finish.
Shop Cross-Training:
Actively support the shop crew with assembly, metal prep, and general fit-up tasks as needed.
Load-Out Mastery:
Lead the packaging and loading of equipment to ensure zero-error deployments to the field. Additional Additional duties may be assigned as needed to support business operations.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience:
2 Years of previous construction experience
Technical Skills:
Proficient with power tools; ability to read a tape measure with precision; mechanical aptitude required.
Soft Skills:
Strong professionalism; logistical mindset; ambition to grow into a management or lead role; ownership mentality.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to lift up to 75+ pounds frequently. Standing and working on feet for extended periods throughout the shift. Comfort working on ladders and aerial lifts in all weather conditions. Repetitive motion including hand/wrist use, reaching, and bending. Exposure to both indoor shop environment and outdoor job sites, including noise, heat, and dust as applicable. The physical demands described above are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this role with or without reasonable accommodation. WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position operates dynamically between our fabrication shop in Otsego, MN, and various residential and commercial job sites. All team members are required to always follow Canvas Craft safety policies and procedures and use required personal protective equipment.
COMPANY VEHICLE & DRIVING REQUIREMENTS
Valid Class D driver's license required; must remain in good standing throughout employment. This position requires driving a company vehicle. An MVR check will be conducted following a conditional offer of employment. Employees driving company vehicles are subject to a company-paid pre-employment medical examination and drug and alcohol screening in accordance with Minnesota and applicable federal law. Must be able to pass DOT exam.
PRE-EMPLOYMENT SCREENING
All candidates who receive a conditional offer of employment will be subject to a background check conducted through Yardstik. Canvas Craft conducts background screening in compliance with the Minnesota Human Rights Act, the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), and all applicable state and local law. A conditional offer may be withdrawn only following an individualized assessment, as required by Minnesota law.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Hourly wage: $25.00
  • 30.00 based on experience and qualifications. Paid Time Off (PTO) — Per Canvas Craft employee handbook based on tenure. Earned Sick and Safe Time (ESST) provided in accordance with Minnesota law. Minnesota Paid Family and Medical Leave benefits available beginning January 1, 2026 Holiday pay — Six paid holidays per year Healthcare
  • Health benefits are offered after 90 days.
Employee pays 25%, employer 75%. Family coverage at 100% by employee. Dental coverage — Dental coverage offered after 90 days.
