Job Description
Knife River is seeking a Foreman to lead field crews on heavy civil and commercial construction projects. This role plans daily work, assigns tasks, and ensures safe, efficient completion of concrete, asphalt, and earthwork operations. The Foreman enforces Knife River's strict safety standards, conducts toolbox talks, and ensures compliance with specifications and quality requirements. Responsibilities include coordinating equipment and materials, monitoring production, resolving on-site issues, and communicating with project managers and inspectors while mentoring crew members in a team-oriented, safety-first culture. Responsibilities Lead and supervise construction crews on daily field operations Plan and schedule tasks, labor, and equipment to meet project goals Enforce safety policies, conduct daily safety meetings, and address hazards Ensure work meets plans, specifications, and quality standards Coordinate materials, trucks, and heavy equipment on site Monitor productivity and adjust work methods to maintain efficiency Communicate progress and issues with project managers and inspectors Train, mentor, and evaluate crew members' performance Document production, incidents, and inspection results Assist with problem-solving and decision-making on construction sites Required Skills Crew supervision Scheduling and task planning Reading blueprints and plans Heavy equipment coordination Concrete and asphalt construction methods Site safety management Quality control and inspections Resource and materials management Production tracking and reporting Communication with project managers and inspectors
